Jzoook6
Anyone have thoughts as to how old this one might be? Regardless of this one's provenance, it's a special one.
ann
It`s probably in the later period of German handmades (but still pre-WW I) because that`s when the use of a black stripe appeared on this type. (Colors of the German flag.) One of my favorites, by the way. This IS a very nice example of the type. Congrats!

Jzoook6
Thank you all! I thought of the German flag first too, but after closer inspection its blue rather than black. Was the black glass that was used to make marbles in Germany a true black or a very dark concentrated color (like L.E. Smith Glass's black amethyst)? My noob eyes see blue/white/red and green/yellow/red but it might just be how the colors are overlapping I suppose.
ann
Sometimes any apparently dark color was used for black; true black is a little unusual for marbles. Interesting how blue it is back-lit. I still think that`s the right time period for it, though, seeing that both pontil marks are relatively rough; earlier ones would have had a smoothed-over "pigtail" on one end and a faceted pontil on the other.
Chad G.
Agree, w/ German Handmade Coreless, latter Victorian era judging by the two unfinished pontils, (1870- 1910 or so) earlier ones (1850-1870 ") almost all had faceting on one end and a melted pigtail or on the other as Ann said, nice mib
