B-rett66
When I first seen this marble I thought it might be a flame. It was almost in the middle of a jar and all I could see was one side. The lady at the antique shop allowed me to dig it out to get a closer look if I would tell her what I knew about marbles. LOL!! That didn’t take long. I did give her some great web sites to browse and we had a great conversation. Long story short, she is a little wiser and I got the marble. Is that a pontil ?? If so, is this a hand made. I’m excited about this one. IMG_8911.mov
B-rett66
Well I think I may have found my answer. I pretty sure I have an early M.F. Christensen regular transitional pontil 9 and tail.

Ric
I'm fairly sure this is an early hand gathered American slag with a regular melted pontil, likely from one of Leighton's Ohio companies. People may refer to them as "transitional" but the are fully hand made.
