Slag ?

Looks vintage handgathered to me.  Lots of companies made these before manufactures became more automated with machine made marbles.  Most of the identifying detail will be where the cut off point is, but even then can be hard to agree on company..  or even country of origin.

Right on thanks.I kinda thought so but somedays i would try to convince myself otherwise. Yes what use to be an obessive denial , i now know and accept , that every marble can't be company/country identified . But rather just age and how its made. Just reading the replies helps trigger some base knowledge i have. This 1 is a cool blue colour.

I agree this is an old transitional slag (hand-gathered and machine rounded), and a nice one too.

You might learn more if you can identify or describe the cut-off mark, which I would expect to find in the area I've circled (from your 5th photo).

Do you see anything that looks like an indented or raised line, or pinhead-sized bump in that area?

I can't imagine much better photos - they're great, but I still have to use my imagination quite a bit to see a cut-off mark. 🙂

So based on your photos and your description of the cut-off I am going to guess it's a Japanese pinch "pontil" transitional. But it's a great example of a transitional slag marble, regardless of whatever else you might want to call it.
