Marble Buddies Spring Edition, Sammy's Mountain Marbles
sissydear replied to sissydear's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
me too. Griff will have to explain "colorized mica". I watched him sprinkle it, but after the finish of the run, had no idea which marbles had it on them. Not until Griff acknowledged it. -
I'm listening to Willies Roadhouse on Sirius XM

Marble Buddies Spring Edition, Sammy's Mountain Marbles
sissydear replied to sissydear's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I mailed out about 15 boxes to friends. Getting great feedback on them. Five more boxes going out soon and I'm out of this run. We are running again May 7th. Going to make more pinks and purples I was told. They sure make pretty marbles. -
They are beautiful!

I've seen new marble collectors ID marbles like this person has. They look in a marble book and somehow make the marble fit the pictures they see. I don't recognize this seller's name so maybe they are new, then again, maybe they know exactly how to take advantage of new collectors. Too bad someone is going to be cheated. Happened to me once, Seller said return the marbles and i'll return your money. I returned the marbles, never got my money and that seller disappeared from ebay. As president of the Texas Marble Collector's club, I get a lot of requests to help ID and value somebody's old marbles. 99% of the time they are JABO, VACOR, FABRICAS, or commons. It becomes my job to tell them the unpleasant truth. Lots of cheats in the world - not just marbles. Most marble people I know are great folks.

What Do You Think Is Htf?

Agree with nantucketdink. That's why I kept posting hard "for me" to find. I am not an expert on how many were produced or on who's got them squireled away. I answered from my personal experience hunting them. -

The red spirals were hard to find too. They are red, but look orange here. -

The red and pumpkin corks were hard to find. I haven't looked for more in years. My enter key will not start a new line as of today, Makes it hard to post pics and write about . them, Tried to trick it by spacing over and that won't work either. The pumpkin on the top row is looking yellow, but in hand it's pumpkin. -

I agree with the yellow on white corks. I have 5, but even harder to find are the Akro baby blue spirals or snakes. I've been looking for 17 years and I've only found 4. The turquoise ones are not hard to find I'll show you the difference in color .I allowed some updates this morning and now I can't find my photo files. They have appeared to disappear. I'll work on it. I also found the purple on white base corks htf. I found one in many years and gave it away because I couldn't find 4 more. -

More Jim Davis: This one shows better. I'll post some by George Williams below. This one is Charles Gibson Mr. Gibson occasionally used lutz This is a 1989 Charles Gibson Gibson, Williams, did not sign. Jim Davis, all Hamon family, Eddie Seese, and Sammy Hogue always signed. -

Sorry, I wrote before I looked again. The size seems to say furnace marbles to me. They do have 1 open pontil too. Early on the WV people were making them. Not Hamon family with 1 open pontil Could be Jim Davis, could be Charles Gibson. They don't look George Williams to me. Those have a cleaner look than the ones I have. My best guess would be Jim Davis. However, Eddie Seese was making them with 1 open pontil early on so possibly his. Sammy Hogue wasn't using his own colors at that time period. he was using glass from Mid Atlantic where he worked. So I ruled him out This is a Jim Davis from the early 1990's -

No, I am saying I only see the "nice" ones for sale by a couple of investors and I see them shown off by people who buy from them. I never see them for sale by other investors. Makes me wonder why? I would question the people in charge before I invested. I understand the Bert is no longer involved. They have used a lot of glass and gotten a few collectable pounds of "nice" marbles. Sour grapes? I wouldn't trade the worst of my Sammy's marbles for what I've seen from JAbo SINCE David was removed. Maybe you haven't seen the Sammy's. I seem to be the only one posting them and I haven't shown the first two runs like I did this last one. -

I do believe I am the only one who has posted Sammy's Mountain Marbles, pics of the Marble Buddies during the run, and pics of the marbles. In no way have my posts been an advertising platform for Sammy's marbles. I have never sold any, not one Sammy's Mountain Marble. I take part solely for the love of marbles and the love for people in our group who work so well together. Galen, you can post whatever you want on anybody's post, but don't go accusing me of your ugly thoughts. I posted as a proud grandmother. My grandson Joseph got to take part in the making of real machine made marbles for the first time. He had previously taken part in JABO industrial marble runs and wanted very much to in his words "see real marbles being made." He got that chance during his spring break and he had a great time doing the jobs that the adults do. He's 12 years old and he was shown how to put lutz sprinkles on the marbles and he was given some to keep. Why do I do it? Solely for the love of pretty marbles. What do I do with them? Joseph loves marbles as much as I do. He and I pick the ones we want to keep in our collections and then the rest are given away to family and friends. Yesterday and today I mailed marbles to Mike Barton, Andrew and Erika Brown, Doug Harroun, Stephanie Harrison, Rich Hollingshead, Rashan Omari Jones, Joel Lugo, Hank Mudge, and Glena Wright. Boxes were personally handed to Hunter Parcel, Chris (don't know last name) - kids at my church and to a relative Triston Perry. More boxes will be mailed tomorrow. I give them to people who love marbles as much as I do. I pay the postage and it adds up so it makes me angry to read posts accusing of advertising platforms. I did post "ask a lot of questions". I did that because the amount of marbles the JABO post is giving investors is a fraction of what I get and I don't buy a whole share. Also because i have seen the marbles coming out and very few are collectable. A couple of people seem to get all the "nice" ones. I do wish the JABO people well. I hope they make beautiful marbles. The truth is they haven't yet, except for a few. You, Galen, need not attack JABO or Sammy's Mountain Marbles. As for why I'm taking part in Sammy's.... "I have long had great respect for David McCullough and Sammy Hogue. They are fine men and I dance with the folks who brung me to the dance."
