What Is This Marble Worth??????
sissydear replied to Sulphide Marbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I do know Hot House work. I've had this lotus a long time. i bought it in Vegas direct from Brett Young, His glass partner in Hot House is Larry Zengler. At the time I bought mine, they had only made 2 of these. I bought the "good one". Bo Stiff bought a slightly defective one. Mine is much prettier. Bo sold his and made a profit. I still have mine and it's not for sale. I don't know if Brett and Larry have made more of the lotus. I would expect to pay 200 to $300 for this marble. They had a lot of failures making the two I know of and had not made anymore. Contact Hot House to find out today'sl price. I've had mine a while. -
I'm flying to Columbus on Wednesday and driving down. I'll fly out Sunday to Houston. Hope to see you there. Joseph had a great time at Sammy's. I'm picking up my marbles at Bobby's house in the morning. Joseph generously shared the marbles with me that you gave him. I'm going to give his back when I get my boxes sorted. I just didn't want to refuse them and hurt his feelings when he shared.

The two shades of blue could be Jim Davis. He also signed all of his work.

It could have been a drawer pull. -
Charlie Gibson did not sign. There is a blue and white that could be his, but it looks like Sammy Hogue too. Is it signed? One that age would be signed "SLH". If it is not signed, it's likely Charles Gibson.

The red white and blue one is a Charles Gibson "snakeskin". He had a studio in Milton, WV.

Sammy's Mountain Marbles Buddy Spring Edition
sissydear replied to sissydear's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Griff, Joseph, and Linda did the sprinkling. Linda shared these pics with me. Linda took this pic near the end of the run. The temp had dropped and I stood close to the tank to get warm. Didn't realize my face was really pink or nearly red. Griff taught Joseph how to sprinkle and Joseph had a great time at the run. He had been wanting to watch a "real" marble run (not industrials) for 6 years. David McCullough made that possible and Griff made Joseph a worker at the run. -

Sammy Lee Hogue. He doesn't sign like that now. He signs in script "Sammy Hogue" whole name.

Sammy's Mountain Marbles Buddy Spring Edition

Some pretty color combinations from the hand full Joseph was taught by Griff how to "sprinkle" Griff gave him some of the marbles he sprinkled and they are below. -
My marbles are boxed up and being brought by auto from WV to Texas. Joseph and I are flying home and couldn't leave the marbles behind without bringing a hand full home in my purse. I reached in and grabbed one hand full. Nothing picked - just the grab of a hand. These are the best of the Marble Buddys 3 runs. David McCullough and Sammy Hogue just get better with each run. David Griffie gets better and more inventive with each run. I'll have more to show after the marbles get to Texas and get sorted. I can then show you the best of the best. These are just what i grabbed in one hand full. Lutz frit Colored frit and a little lutz frit Lutz mist Lutz ribbon Frit egg

Hey Marble King People, Why Isn't This Just A Wasp?

My experience with Black Widow and Wasp is the same as Don's. I thought it might be a "regional difference". -

By the way, the method of making is very similar. They are ground after bundling the canes. -

These are Gerry Colman millifiore marbles - good quality glass, millis from italy. What you have in your pic is cheap Chinese glass. -

It is Chinese. I first bought some of those around 2003 or 2004. I bought 100 of them for $50. Got them from Village Originals at the Tucson Best Bead Show. They come in lots of pretty colors. We sold them for $1.00 each. I saw others selling them for $10.00 each. Gerry Colman does really pretty contemporaries and they are much better than the cheap Chinese ones. I'll try to post some for you. -
Machines used to make ball bearings were the inspiration for marble rollers that are still used today.

Yes it does. I've seen a lot of those on modern machinemades and a few on vintage.
