  1. Back door to the furnace...where bulk glass is fed. Fine quality pigment glass and rods. Brandon Byard (that's my boy!) hunting for cullet. Some of the first 3/4" marbles. More 3/4". More. Lutz experiment. The first 5/8" of 2009. Champagne glass 5/8". All pics taken at Jabo Agate, Lower Newport, Ohio on March 5, 2009. The run was far from over at that time and continues as I type this morning. Here's to good friends and beautiful marbles! Bob
  2. Is this 5/8" CA an early Handgathered one or a later totally machine-made Striped Opaque? I posted this elsewhere, but for the last few days, could not access this board. Almost every time I try to log on, it hangs up at downloading some kind of Paypal Logo and crashes Internet Explorer. Bob It's For Sale
  3. John, You may have FILE EDIT VIEW FAVORITES TOOLS HELP at the top of your screen. If so, click on VIEW, then TEXT SIZE. Select the largest and see if that's easier to read. Al, I didn't know that shortcut. Cool.
  4. Not a dumb question...are you a Windows user? If so, click START, then CONTROL PANEL, then APPEARANCES & THEMES, then CHANGE SCREEN RESOLUTION. This will take you to a sliding control that shows your current resolution. My main reason for asking regards image sizing. I have always sized my pics for best viewing at 800 X 600. If most people are using a different resolution, then I think I want to adjust because my pics are likely appearing smaller than I would like. Bob
  5. OK....I know I'm stuck in the archaic, if not paleolithic. I use 800 X 600. What do you all use? 800 X 600 1024 X 768 1152 X 864 1280 X 720 1600 X 1200 What is most common these days? Bob
  6. Edna, I'm glad to hear that Weldon is doing better. My mother had a similar experience where her blood count was in the 4's. She received 5 pints of blood to boost her count. We feared the worst, such as colon cancer, but it turned out to be a small stomach ulcer. Since being treated and modifying her diet, her blood count has been stable for a year now. Bob
  7. Search the Appleton book on amazon...as low as $3 + $4 shipping. I just bought one for $5. Bob
  8. What Duffy said...refund their $2.59, then block him/her from bidding. Post their ebay ID here so that other ebay sellers can block them. By the time ebay/paypal hits you up for this, you've probably lost money anyway. ANYONE that complains about a $2 ebay purchase is obviously warped. Bob
  9. Thanks for the compliments! These are a beautiful type of older Vitro and date back to the days of mesh bags. They are not so easy to find. Get them when and while you can as collectors' interest and prices will likely rise. Bob
  10. Every Elite is a Tri-Lite, but not every Tri-Lite is an Elite. Below are some of the more attractive Tri-Lites that could be described as Elites. Bob
  11. I went to New Philly a few days before the show. Had the pleasure of meeting Roger and Claudia Hardy, who are avid Akro collectors/historians/authors. They had some of the marbles shown below, known as Sparkler Variants. I would have thought they were Master-Made, but they were part of the estate of a former Akro employee. Also picked up these in New Philly.... That black/yellow Corkscrew is a little over 13/16 and amazing...I've listed it on ebay. Does anyone other than me call this a Bumblebee Cork? Ebay - Marbles For Sale Bob
  12. I think that's a torch-made contemp...the description doesn't come close to describing the mib. I think the seller attached the wrong pictures. Bob
  13. All marbles will sell tomorrow night. Here's a link: VINTAGEMARBLES Seller's Page on Ebay Thanks, Bob
  14. You guys are right to put me to task on this one. I should have used the "blended" aspect in the title. I state that in the description, but can't go back and add it in the title without completely ending the listing. Also, I can't really say why bidding is as fierce as it is because most Mint "classic" Clowns as of late are bringing $20-25. In hand, it's IMO more attractive than a "classic", and that may explain the interest. Bob "vintagemarbles"
  15. The planet Krypton was orbited, at various times in its history, by two, three, and perhaps even four natural satellites. When, in November 1960, Superman makes a time-journey to Krypton in the period immediately preceeding its destruction, he romances lovely Lyla Lerrol under the soft radiance of Krypton's two moons; but it is firmly established in the chronicles that the renegade Kryptonian scientist Jax-Ur destroyed one of Krypton's moons prior to this period. It's a bird, it's a plane.....it's...Bob
  16. SHAV-ing Cream! BE nice and clean! Shave every day And you'll always look keen!!!!!!

  18. Here's a link: http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/17322 Click on REAL AUDIO to load this playlist into your player. The radio show is continuous without cueing between songs. Slide your progress bar to 5:05 to hear FRIED MARBLES. Or just listen to the whole thing...it's sorta Dr. Demento-ish. Bob
  19. I think that they are old, made at Saint Mary's before 1959. I've been told that a cache of them were found in St. Marys when work was being done on a bridge near the old Marble King factory site. There are two types of Spiderman marbles that I have purchased from local diggers. There are the oxbloods like above and this type.... I must say, though, that this is just my opinion and Duffy's theory could be right about the oxblood ones. The brighter colored one above, I think has been seen for many years. The one on the left does have a thin ribbon of ox. Bob
  20. Spiderman with oxblood in question. Vintage Watermelon with oxblood - sold for $579.00 I feel they are contemporaneous. Bob
  21. Here's a Peewee Slag that I have listed on ebay right now. It measures 15/32" and is glossy Mint. Bob Marbles For Sale
  22. A genuine Christensen Snotty! Currently listed on ebay, selling Wednesday night. Bob Boogers For Sale
  23. Whoa!! Now that's a feast for the eyes! Thanks for sharing....Bob
  24. WOW!! I love that hypnotic Yin-Yang thing that goes on in some of the Multi-Color Swirls....I think these marbles are far more appealing than 95% of the NLR's out there. Here are some examples... Bob
  25. ...and after a rousing game of marbles, there's nothing like eating a shoe... Czech Picnic
