These are the kind of things that I think about at 3am when I can't sleep. lol

Just sitting around thinking, watching the local news and many people out there in this area are hurting in the pocket book, as they are all over the country. I don't know if it would be financially feasible to do this, or what the logistics would have to be but here's my thought anyway. And this would totally depend on IF Jabo will be doing run's in the future, but my fingers are crossed! A marble run with color combo's based on foods or food related stuff. LIke the old ketchup mustard, egg yolk, watermelon and whatever else we could come up with along these lines. A certain percent of money made off the marble sets would go to help food banks in our local area's. And if we raised more than enough money to cover the cost of the run, or once the cost of the run was covered, then 100% of the remaining money would be donated to the local food banks to help needy familys in this troubled time. I believe that any donations would also be tax deductable as well which may help get donations flowing? maybe?? In my state of Michigan, where the unemployment rate is the highest in the country, there are a tremendous amount of people in need. Many of the local foodbanks are having difficulty just staying open because the local businesses are either not donating as much as they used to , or have closed their doors completely. The general public isn't in a good place financially to donate to them either as many of them are now standing in line hoping to get simple items like bread and milk to help feed their family's. Once again, I really don't know if this would be a feasible task to undertake but the cause is definately a good one, and the need is dire in these troubled times. I thought I would bounce this idea around out there and see what you think, as many of you know a vast more about the logistics of these runs than I ever could. God Bless!

O/t You Ain't Gonna Believe This One...

Oh my! I think I have had a chicken living in my junk drawer for years! I always wondered where all that crap came from, but now I know! Maybe I can catch it and have some dinner! lol -
I am so glad that this sparked some idea's and I hope to be rolling around in a game of mib's with all of you someday! hehe God Bless you all so very much! Your friend in the bitter cold state of MIchigan, Gary

The tattoo is a very cool idea! I am swinging towards marbles though. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. Not like im planning on going anyway soon, just had the idea and thought i'd through it out there and see if this was possible. If anyone else has any other info or idea's please feel free to post. As long as there on the serious side. Thanks again, and God Bless!

I just wanted to through this out there again. Being that tax time is just around the corner and I am hoping to beg and plead my wife for the money to purchase a torch and some tools to get me started creating some mib's. If anyone has upgraded their equipment, or has some lying around they may want to get some extra coin for please let me know. I am in need of a torch, hoses, regulators, and some basic bench tools as well as some eye protection. Hope to have taxes back sooner than later, probably mid to late Feb. Thank you everyone and God Bless

That is very awesome! And although Jabo's are my absolute favorites, if they couldn't do someting like this I would have to look elsewhere. Hopefully no time soon God Bless

That is great to know, Jabo's are top notch in my book. What other mibs are out there are like these? With the ability of us to get involved, I just love it! I hope they have them for years and years to come! If they do sell the company maybe we could all get together and purchase it somehow, now that would be something! God Bless!

Wow these are wonderful, does anyone mind if I download these and keep them for myself? Thank you, and God Bless

I was just curious, been to the doctor a lot lately. Had to go again today and again tomorrow for some more testing with a surgical proceedure on the horizon, next Friday morning. If someone was to be creamated after passing, would it be possible to mix the ashes with a load of molten glass to make a set or two of Jabo's? I know I may be thinking a little ahead of myself and I am not trying to focus on the worse case senerio, but... It would be very cool if and when I do pass that this could be done so my kids could have a little part of me, and my soul in something I love so very much. However, I don't know how the ashes would affect the glass load in the hopper or if the glass would even be able to sustain some of the ashes without burning them off completely. I know it's an odd and maybe morbid question but if anyone knows about this I would like to hear if this is possible. I have heard of people that have their ashes mixed with concrete to make big fishy homes that are dropped in the ocean for artificial reefs. I just wanted to know if glass would work as well. Now the ashes are not ashes exactly, but more like pellets for those who don't know. I am someone who will have my body creamated after I pass and if I could use them for something as cool as a run of marbles it would keep me smiling for eternity. I hope I haven't grossed anyone out, lol If you don't want to post directly to this please pm me as I am very interested in this. And just for the record, none of my health problems are related to lead or other contaminates related to polishing glass in prior unsafe method. hehe Just FYI, lol Thank you and God Bless you all!

Legally speaking, this can be avoided through a loop hole. Thank goodness for the loopholes in our law system, lol Seems a lable on the packaging that would read something like, "Not for children under 12 years of age" would cover this new legal requirement and get anyone around the certification process and the costs involved therein. Being totally ignorant of this new requirement however, I cannot say with any certainty that this age specification is listed in the new requirement wording. If it is indeed inthere, then legally it's a loophole. New thread, yeah probably but it's definately something we should be addressing. Thanks for your post. God Bless

Well put marblenut. Just for the record I have only polished a few mibs and I don't plan on selling any of them. Although I would polish mibs for friends if they asked. It's just way to fun to let someone else do it for me. And I have more time than money so economically, it works for me. However, I will be looking at getting some other gear to lessen the risks of contaminating the earth. God Bless

Well, lead is deadly poisonous. But I think as a society as a whole, we have become so engrained with the fear monster that we now need to be protected from ourselves less we die. Sadly, we are all going to die someday and if you decide not to live in fear than your somehow less of a person with a terribly low IQ which will only get lower with all these toxins! Don't drink out of plastic, don't use teflon pans, aluminum pans, don't freeze your water bottle, and never drink your own tap water for heavens sake. Don't forget that these, now deemed deadly lead poisoned marbles, are what many of you played with for hours as children yourselves. Or perhaps your parents played with them in my case, and even grandparents where known to shoot a round of mibs after church on Sunday. But now this lead is somehow more toxic and will kill you, give you cancer, kill your sex drive and whatever else. Just for the record, marbles never killed anyone in my family. My father died of a heart attack in Oct 2007 at the age of 63, which was not caused by lead poisoning. My grandparents all lived long and healthy lives until passing themselves, all over the age of 80 with the exception of my maternal grandmother who lived to be 92. Now, I don't go around rolling lead fishing sinkers in my mouth, nor would I recommend it to anyone. But when will we learn to live without fear of something we really have no control over anyway? Anyone of you could die minutes after reading this from a stroke. Does this mean you should not read these boards anymore because something you read may raise your blood pressure and kill you? I second what wrons put so well in his post. Life is about so many other good things to focus on rather than fear. God Bless

Great looking pooch! Got to love those eye's!

I'm lost on this, but since it's me that's not saying much! lol Hope it is, exactly what your hoping it is! Keep smiling!
-
I am flattered that I was able to contribute something, albeit nothing much. It makes it that much more special to be a part of these boards and to know all you wonderful souls out there. Every time I log in it's like coming home, and getting that long awaited hug from family and friends. You all will never fully know, just how you have positively impacted my life in these short months. I only wish I could have done more to help. God Bless you all exceedingly.

It's ok boys, im half dead already. No harm no foul Seriously though, thanks for the information. I will look into doing things the safest way possible. I suppose ignorance really is bliss because I had a ball! lol God Bless p.s. The "dynamite" idea doesn't work. I couldn't get close enough to get the fuse lit. Maybe I cut the fuse too short?? Maybe next time... lol

Although I just turned 35 in December, would I still qualify as one of those "Kids?" hehe I love the idea of having some of the first and last mibs from the run because it is part of the history of the run itself. Even in life there are parallels of this, although they don't look the same as the rest of the run, they do have beauty to behold and likewise, a story to be told. God Bless,

Check your local Walmart for single bits, or Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware might have them as well. My local Walmart has the stand alone bits for sale for cheap so you don't have to buy a huge kit. I like the dremmel and have even used some heavy epoxy on a nail head to glue the marble I am working on to the top, then use the nail in the dremmel on the sanding surfaces to get it nice and round. The trick with that is to get it exactly centered when you glue it on there and work on it in short durations letting it cool down enough so it doesn't heat and crack, or heat up and pop off the nail, which sends the mib flying! lol It's probably dangerous, which is why I send out that warning. Just make sure to have fun, take your time and enjoy it. It can be slow going at times and your hand will cramp up from time to time, but I just take a short break and that does it for me. Polishing mibs for me is a journey, not a quick jaunt, so enjoy the process and you will definately be rewarded in the end product! God Bless you all!

What a wonderful and gorgeous run of Jabo's! Kudo's to the team that made this possible! They are all beautiful!!
-
I have never used it but i just started polishing. I have even used crest tooth paste believe it or not! lol It actually is more abrasive than the Maas polish cream and works good for me. But I have found it takes lots and lots of time, which I seem to have alot of these days. Let me know how that cerium oxide works for you maybe I will pick some up too.
-
I use a fine, dry grit pad then switch to a buff pad and Maas metal polish, it works like a charm. I just smooth it out over the surface thinly, then get to buffing with my dremmel equiped with a buff pad bit. Best of Luck! It sure is rewarding when you get those beauties back to life! God Bless!

Happy B-lated Birthday! Hope you blew all the candles out in one breath and all your wishes come true! May God Bless you and yours!

I have a few nice mibs that unfortunately have cracks in them. they are not craters or sparkles, rather one line cracks or fractures internal in them. Just wondering if there was any way to fix them. They are nothing expensive or extra ordinary for moneys sake. Maybe it's that thing in me that always wants to rescue something, someone, a stray dog or cat, and maybe a cracked marble or too. Lol, maybe Im the one that's cracked! There may be some posts on here already about this and I did dig through some, just some though. I hope you are all doing ok this Christmas Season. I pray blessings and peace in each of your homes. May He bless you and yours exceedingly and abundantly. God Bless!

Here is a message I received from Larry a while ago. We can all rest assured that he is happy and healthy now in the hands of the Father. He may not give you every thing you ask for, I assure you He gives you every thing you need. Deep thanks for your prayers. God bless and keep sharing the joy of him. Larry Castle God Bless you and yours this Christmas season.
