  1. Marble King.

I see how you count six colors.  Oddly, I would have thought of it as a two color marble.  Just the red and "brown".  I often count white as a color, but I wouldn't have thought of it here because I was only seeing what I thought Marble King _meant_ to have -- which was two veneered colors covering a white base.

  2. Hello.  Welcome.   Yes, only Akro made corkscrews.

It is possible that other marbles could be confused with Akro corks.   For example, a Japanese transitional might resemble a corkscrew.

However, when we say something is a corkscrew,  we are saying it is Akro.

  3. Even though there is a resemblance to Peltiers, you have two patches.

The originals were on Peltier's Peerless Patches.

Peerless Patches have a single patch.

I apologize for not making that explicit before.   I assumed you knew what a Peerless Patch style was.

  4. You have a wide mixture of marbles in your last post.

    Bottom line:

There is old Tom Mix and modern Tom Mix.

The old Tom Mix is on Peltier Peerless Patches.  The modern Tom Mix is on modern marbles.

Yours is a modern Tom Mix.

  5. Akro did some logo marbles, but as far as I know only Peltier did the Tom Mix back then.

Your marble doesn't look like Akro.

Your online searches are  coming up with questionable results.  This marble in the middle here which was called a Vitro -- that is a Marble King from 1955 to 1965.

Your marble is not the 1960's version.   The modern Marble Kings have two patches -- the only difference between yours and standard modern Marble Kings is that the standard pattern is for the two patches to be on opposite ends.  But I am still reasonably sure that yours is a modern Marble King.

And I am positive that it is not a vintage Peltier or Akro.

    Hello all,

I started shooting marbles during Covid at the age of 50 years.  I have become absolutely obsessed.  I have read dozens of books about marbles, built a 22’ x 10’ marble yard at the house, and have been playing several days a week.  We play all different types of games, but our clear favorites are rolley hole, Tennessee square, old bowler, and black snake.   In any case, I have read many of the posts on this website and am delighted to join the conversation with other marbles enthusiasts.

Love to hear about people actually playing.

I've practiced shooting a little, but my husband laughs at me.  Not because I'm good or bad.  But because it's so hard for me to pick a marble that I'm willing to chip.

I have a small group though just for practicing.

Hi everyone I'm HAS form London. And new to all this my pictures are not the best I've found those marbles at home and have looked online with no luck

I would like it if anyone would have any information about them like age were they. Might of been made if they are valuable etc

    Thank you

    Hi, Has.  Welcome.

I think these are modern and probably not valuable.   Likely made in Asia.

However I don't recognize the characters at all.  They might be valuable to someone who recognizes them.

Bah ... yes, you are correct, sir!

My great-uncle Charlie Sears  was an architect for the  Sears Tower, now called the Willis Tower.  How cool would it have been if  Charlie's brother Willis Sears had been the one to do the work!
