Is this a private party or can others duck in to say
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BO
Oops, didn't mean to yell. Have a great one Bo.

Sharp hooks!
How about some Pelt Sunsets I ran across at the Morphy site today. ;-)

-
Cool! I saw your flower pix and was hoping we'd see some mibs too - but didn't wanta pressure you. ;-) The flowers were great. :-)
Akro sounds good to me.

well, I'll add a happy birthday too. Don't know Digger, but your post made me take a look at his profile.
Runner's Dad oughta get in touch with him. Same area. Both with an interest in Alox. Pretty cool.

Galen Buddy takes round one.

I have seen certain boxes that have CA marbles in them and then the same box same graphics for a different company.
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=MARBLES+IN+FANTASY+BOX+
I'm not sure what the source of that pic is, but I've asked about it before too. When I was first learning about the modern fantasy boxes.
And yep, that's what those are. Cute little modern boxes.

yeah, that place is always under construction. dangerous ;-)
not sure what I have in there on fantasy boxes. But at least a little. I know I put a fantasy section in the Original Packaging thread. But some of the original links I had there became defunct. Maybe I'll have a look at that today.

Some are made to deceive. Some are made for profit reasons but not with an attempt to deceive. Some are made as tributes or simply as a nice place to keep one's marbles.
Not sure I understand the 2nd portion of your question.

Yes,within 1/32".NO,Yes,it don't leave the shop if it's not quality.Diagnostically speaking what would be the cause for the high percentage of culls.I'm guessing worn rollers? What would be an acceptable reject ratio,5% or less?
I also have thought the reject ratio seemed high. Been hard to keep up with the discussion I don't want to misquote anyone. Will make a stand alone statement that my general feeling has been that incidence of out of round and dimples and cold rolls for the contract runs seems higher than I would have expected the ratio to be for most of the marble companies of say, 1930 to 1970.
I'm under the impression that Akro had a high rate of rejects when it first started because of Horace Hill's faulty machine design, but then with Early (was it?) they got better. But does anyone here know the success ratios of the various companies which were around before Jabo?
I was pondering the subject of Jabos I've seen which I might have valued at more than $20. Since it was David's question and he has signed out of the discussion I might wait until another day to post them. Some of the better flames are what I have in mind. And some with nice lutz.

Yes, I was missing something.
So you are asking in a general way about transparent colors on CAC's?
I thought you were describing the colors on your marble. Didn't see red. So wasn't sure.

Your subject line mentions "red". Wondering if I'm missing something.

The auctions are over. Gotta say wow again.

NOW that's a superior. LOL

The photoshop did the trick!

Chuck seems pretty definite about the yellow patch being surrounded by red ribbons on both sides. We shared a couple of emails about them and I'm pretty sure he stood firm on that. I should go doublecheck his exact wording. He named them so I have to go with what he says there.
Here's what he said. I think he'd be okay with me posting it. I should ask, huh? LOL. No, he's said before that it's okay:
Superiors are very consistent in design which is somewhat unusual for early Vitros. The key is the top patch – it is ALWAYS that unique yellow-orange with the very bold & bright half & half red ribbon around it. That design absolutely stands out and anyone who sees them once has no problem identifying them later. The large Superiors (¾” or slightly smaller) have an irregular patch on the other pole which is red-brown, green or blue (blue is usually opaque & the other colors are usually transparent). They are absolutely great marbles. I’ve never seen any other colors on the bottom pole of the large Superiors. The 5/8’ Superiors are identical with the top patch & ribbon. The colors on the bottom pole range from red variations, green variations, blue variations, purple, near black, oxblood-like, yellow and sometimes two colors. Weaker examples have minimal patching on the bottom or are clear or bland white. Quality is essential – bolder & brighter is better, bland is bad. Superiors are not hard to ID, the others some incorrectly call Superiors are usually just Tri-lites. -
Still some debate about this one so I'll try to remember to update it if there are any big revelations but I like it!
Small scenic, 3/4". Said to have been dug personally by the seller, from a San Francisco privy. They showed a lot of other cool mibs they said they dug.

(presumably) good box:

Pavcraz style. The borders and general decoration are so different I wonder if he had a different style box to copy it from, or if this was his own design.

Here's that auction.

Groovy. Thanks Ric. I was wondering about aquamilks.

Beautiful video John. Thank you for sharing.
And thank you to all the vets!

Why are personal attacks allowed here? Just asking. This is what kills a board. I know a lot of folks who have left because this is allowed.
This is one of the cases where one has to question what constitutes a personal attack. David (marbleus1) has been taking hits since page 1 for even starting this thread. He has been specifically and broadly insulted. This has turned into one of the free-for-all threads where if we banned all who could be looked at as attackers we might be banning half of our active membership.

Randy, those would be Carnelians, with an A. Lovely of course. Do a couple of them have magenta areas, or is that a trick of the lighting?
