because you believed it to be Alley.
Is it still Alley?
-
Yup, pretty sure Alley, coz you posted it before. And yup, I mighta suspected Jabo if you hadn't said otherwise.
-
so you don't think this one could be confused either then?

Alley?

Yes, I understood single vs. multi-stream about how Galen described it.
I thought part of Fiedler's genius was his skill in choosing glass which could melt together in that single receptacle but not blend. So that the colors would stay distinct when they came out the other end in the single stream.
-
If as you say, JABO has single strem machines, then they ( the machines) wouldn't be able to make flames...
If that is so, then this is a new concept to me. I thought that Christensen flames were single-stream marbles.

So so cute. Congrats Gampie.
Hehe, BJ's a Gampie. Hehe. Adorable.

Nice Vacor!

Jabos and Ravenswoods might be a good place to look for similar appearance examples. But the same problem comes up. Will those who collect Ravenswoods have that many Jabos to place next to 'em for comparison photos?
Eneeway, here's page 2 of a favorite link, with a response at the end there from dink1111 about how they're gonna have to look through their Jabo mountain to see if there were any Ravenswoods in it.

A newbie might consider it educational. Sue's not-cork. Your corks. It might not be the lesson David was daring us to try to teach. But it might still be educational if approached in a positve spirit.
I'd think about adding some examples but as I said in that other thread, the examples I have right now are ones which go the other way. They're non-Jabos which I was told were Jabos.
I still could try to get a pic of the special runs which I think look like Champion furnace mibs! LOL. But I guess those wouldn't apply either. Champion furnace mibs aren't vintage, are they?

Edna, Sue said, "Those who really know their Akro probably wouldn't flinch... But, some others might." You know your Akro. Your mibs show why you wouldn't need to flinch. But a wishful newbie could get thrown by the one Sue posted.
I don't think this thread is necessarily meant to conform to David's specs. Not many people have both Jabos and the vintage ones which might match them.
I actually tried to save pairs like that, starting about my 2nd year of collecting. But I got tired of it by about my 4th. At that point I didn't need the comparisons anymore. Wish I'd kept 'em now. Woulda been fun.

Thank you David.
Here's the link, by the way. Now I'm off to read it . . . again. Your articles have been one of my favorite resources since I discovered them.

David, you wrote the following.
Hi marbleus 1,
Your suggestion just made is excellent. This is basically what serious IDing is all about. From my own personal and somewhat extensive experience with Jabos I would be willing to guess that to a halfway trained eye it will be relatively few Jabo marbles that could properly be offered as truly problematic when compared to vintage marbles.
So everyone, please offer-up your Jabo marble that seems to be pissing you off so much and place it side-by-side with the vintage marble you believe it to be undermining.
This I gotta see! David (Please no photo touch-ups!)
Galen posted Jabo marbles side by side with vintage marbles. I will trust that he did not touch up the photos.
Even if what Galen posted were bupkis, you'll have a tough time justifying the sarcasm to most of us (imho). If you don't like the thread, you can move on. That is a common refrain in connection with Jabo threads. A commonly ignored refrain, but still good advice.

Galen said equal mix. 4 & 4? I'm stymied.

A discussion of Champ sizes would be interesting. I know (believe) and regularly use the fact (guideline) about Champ not making very sizeable marbles.
But check out the contents of the sample bag on p. 66 of American Machine-Made Marbles.
Luckily for you, Dani appears to have made the question moot for your marble with the dug Akro she posted at LOM. Makes so much sense . . . . now.

Looking at my bolder blues, found some in Vitro and Japanese. I THOUGHT I had one which I got with some Heaton cullet but I can't find that one.
It's kinda hard to see the detail on your vanes. Wondering if a pic of the mibs in water might help with that.
I LOVE the rich blues.

From a Morphy auction, May 13-15, 2010:

-
$23,000 based on in depth study of current market trends and Chi-square analysis of the frequency of appearance of #1 guineas in Pennsylvania auctions in the last 20 years, and correlated with the corn futures for May.
Or because my favorite number is 23.

What's your question?
There are two really nice marbles there. The Parrots.
That 3rd Vitro shooter is kinda interesting to me, but I don't suppose it's worth that much.
The Parrots appear to be the money marbles here.

I don't care for Jabos either... To many beauties to many years to late...

You got a point there!

Gosh, just yesterday, you assumed ill of me. I have watched you create your silly little dramas for years and I believe you stirred the pot on purpose. If I am wrong, do please tell why you posted your vile venom over there rather than on your "home board"?
I explained already: "I don't want to be accused of posting it in an area where I have the moderator advantage and others can't defend themselves appropriately."
I wanted you to feel free to respond to me without feeling any threat that I would receive special treatment. I didn't want to be accused of moderating you unfairly.
I'd have been damned anywhere I posted it I guess. But just because I'm a moderator doesn't mean I have to check my feelings at the door.
I had strong feelings. I felt a strong need to express them. So I chose a more neutral venue and invited people to meet me there.

Duff, somebody with 1076 feedbacks already bid on that marble.
Yes, I did bid on that marble.

steph thinks jabo collectors are terrorists....
Nope, that's not what I said either.
Only some are. LOL. And LOL, I didn't even say that. I said some must look like terrorists some of the time.
A few won't cut anyone any slack. You've said more or less the same thing yourself. You just don't like it when I say it I guess.

thanks mike makes the most sense today...steph hates jabos collectors so what else is new????
LOL. Yeah, that's what I said. Not.
p.s., that is for sure a "be aware" mib. I want it.

If you put it up for ID outright one of my first questions would be about what size it is.
But then after you told me, if you told me 5/8" for instance, I'd have to go do some research to see how many 5/8"-ers would have been made like this.
Still under the impression that most Jabo runs in the last coupla years were 3/4", but not sure about that anymore. Have lost track.
