  1. OMG!

Let's start with the 2 parrots!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually we might end with the 2 parrots. No wait, is that other shooter a Tiger Eye?!

The smaller marbles might need more looks. Most look Jabo to me, but one looks like it could be one of them there Alleys. And if they're all Jabo, there's nothing wrong with that!

    Anyway, back to

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s., moving this to the main forum because we deserve to see some marbles, and boy are those some marbles!

  2. I'm not sure which marble Patry bought. Do yours and hers look more like that citrus group Galen showed, or more like the one Sandy posted?

    Or more like something else?

Basically, I am unfamiliar with name. I hadn't seen Pink Grapefruit used in connection with the Citrus group, only with that one rainbo. So I am VERY curious myself. Hoping to learn something new here. :-)

  3. LOL. That would be funny - the only known packaging with an Alley brand? lol

This guy's transgressions are so numerous that they've almost become boring. Talking about spelling is more interesting . . . and more likely to have some good come from it.

This guy's excuse when caught lying was that "of course he would lie - he could get more money for something if he lied about it, so DUH". I'm only paraphrasing a little there.

    He's bad news.

  4. One of the companies making glass gear shift knobs in 1929 (at least) was the L. J. Houze Convex Glass Co. . . .

I'm pretty sure I have at least one other company name somewhere. I'll try to find that. . . . [edit: It was the Globe Specialty Co. Doesn't necessarily look as if they made them though. They were charged with unfair practices in "sale and distribution". So it's not clear who their supplier was.]

I found that other company's name when reading about the California Agate Co. aka the California Onyx Co., who made onyx gear shift knobs.

Onyx knobs were popular in the 1920's and 1930's, and glass companies jumped on that, making them a lot cheaper than the onyx companies could. The Federal Trade Commission stepped in to try to stop misleading advertising.

  5. To my untrained eye, those jackets sure look close Sue.

Belle Boyd, a famous confederate spy, was photographed by Morris in the late 1800's.

The mustache and slicked down hair might also help date the pic, if the right someone was looking at it.

Reading around more, 1870's to 1880 is looking good for it. For the mustache, for the hair, for that cut of the "sack suit". So, with my skills based on 1 whole hour of google (lol) that's my guess.
