  1. Do you mean that horrible wooden Master box? I think that seller was in Maine at last sighting.

Here's the auction I had in mind. The item location for this one was given as New Mexico, so it looks like a completely different situation.

    Item #150430039837

I'm still guessing it might have been an innocent combination of vintage items. I did a little googling and there was a Majestic greeting card company founded in Brooklyn in 1938. Company site. So that's the way I'm leaning for now. Maybe an old box, but not as old as the super cool marble box inside, and brought together at some point after the paper inside was used up.

    jmho!

  2. If that's the one which was on ebay this past month, I didn't recognize the Majestic box.

My guess was that it might have originally held stationery or something else other than marbles. And then someone realized that the marble box and pencil set and all fit in nicely. However, I do not know.

That was sure a pretty Master box inside.

  3. Wow, I hadn't noticed that V-bag box before. That's cool! The bag is awesome and the marbles inside the box are a style I've been curious about before. So thanks!

Some boxes might be tough to narrow down to within better than 10 years. I like trying to get as close as possible tho'. Sometimes I try to match boxes up to ads or articles.

Last year we had some fun with Master Glass boxes which advertised candidates for offices in the Lions Club. Found articles about the elections in newspapers from 1955 and 1956. So voila! We had dates!

  4. I sold one of these to Pete and gave a couple away to my friends. Come on guys post em! Cant find the one i kept. Steph, do you have any more pics? I was selling a couple as Champion, because i got them in Ritchie County.(Which doesnt mean a hill of beans. i"m sure i posted them in LOM.

Here's one Kris posted. I'm not sure I have any other swirly looking pix. . . I have other aventurine pix but it's not so clear whether they're swirly or stripey.

  5. Here's the marble of Tom's I was remembering. The aventurine didn't come through in the photo as much as I would have hoped, but it came with a box, which is why it stood out in my memory.

Here are a couple more photos from Tom which I think might be the same marble and some of its companions, and then the box it came in. (Tom broke the box up into multiple photos across at least two threads.)

  6. Here's a swirl which Pete had listed in his catalog at LOM a couple of years back. Listed in the Champion section.

I THINK I have seen a two-seam aventurine pictured straight from a Master box. If I did, I think it was at LOM. I think it was posted by someone named Tom. Not sure if I saved the photo. Might take some work to find it but I will give it a shot.

  7. Finally looking at the vids. Have to rewire my computer everytime I wanna do that.

I don't read so good sometimes. Thought you were gonna be talking about the blizzards of this year.

Those were crazy. I'm in Wisconsin. We were fine. But I had to worry about my family in Texas.

Looking at the vids now. hey that first one's not a vid, it's a slide show. that's a lotta wotta .....

  8. I'm pinning this one because I just love this box so much. (Not my box! pix were donated)

Here's another thread I posted at the same time with a later sample case, If You Can Handle A Little More Akro. I don't want to pin it because the pinned section is starting to get quite long. I'll settle for a link.

Actually there were quite a few more cool box photos and some ads which I was privileged to post around the same time, many Akro but also some others. They might be in the archives, or in the study hall. If not in one or the other, I will move them when I next come across them. :-)

  9. That is so cool . . . that it made it out of the factory inside a bag. Mostly I think of double ingots as dug marbles.

In theory I knew they're not always dug. Pretty sure I've seen at least one foreign double ingot cat's eye so it had to be in a package. But it seems very rare to me.

So wow. That is way cool.
