haha. That almost makes sense since one end of the marble did get spurted out first. lol. But no way do I want to start dwelling on that.

As I noted when I wrote "top" and "bottom", it's relative. If orienting the marble helps the person study it, then that is great. It helps me. But you don't have to orient it the same way I do. If you do it differently, I will still respect you in the morning.

Lately it's been brought to my attention that opal could mean a number of things. I KNEW that, but didn't think about. For instance, on a contemporary marble board, "opal" is completely different from the "opalescence" we say we see in a vintage marble.

I'm a little confused by the use of the description "opal". I think I may not be fully appreciating what you are seeing. My loss!!!!

It's in the archives. It reinforces the impression that most corals are considered Champs. fwiw, it also has the bag which I thought was/might be Alleys.

I think the oxblood tricolors are from a later era than the mibs which usually get tagged as eggyolk. whichever ones those are.

Mike's three are all Alley Agate Co. It has been fairly well established that the CAC corals were Alley.

David, are you ruling out Champion as a source of Corals? I had been under the impression that Champ was currently considered the main source of Corals.

I thought that Alley might have made at least some variation on corals, but usually I see them attributed to Champ.

I think I see the ox too. The mib is from the era of oxen tricolors so that's not surprising.

If it's only a stray strand maybe it is a byproduct of the red colorant or maybe it's leftover from a different run. [edit: but the more I look the more it does seems as if there might be more in/over/under the red ribbon. Some nice rich color in there.]

Anyone have an Alley coral? The only pic I recall offhand of a possible Alley coral is hidden in a mesh bag. Not much to go on for any sort of generalization. Would love to see another. Thanks.

OMG looks like it goes halfway up your door!

We didn't get that much snow! Some, but not that much. But we did have a pet-related adventure in the front yard this morning. I went out to shovel and heard a loud frantic call from the thorny bushes up against our porch. I couldn't tell for sure if it was a cat or a large bird. But eventually we managed to extricate a kitten. A bushy tailed black kitten, maybe a few months old. Fed him, watered him, dethorned him, found him a home. What a rush. Our grown boy cats weren't happy about it but everyone is settled down now.
