  1. P.s., I also once had a cat who was an amazing talent with the paper wad. He could jump up and grab them in the air.  (And grab nerf footballs ... and birds.)

One time a paper wad came sailing over my shoulder from behind as I was sitting on a sofa.   And the only explanation was that somehow my fella had managed to hurl it from the next room.  He never repeated that feat but he had impressive ball-handling skills.

  2. My problem with letting my cats play with my marbles has been finding ones that I wouldn't mind them dinging or losing!

It hurt a little even to let Bear skitter a Jabo Luster across the room.

But fortunately for my marble playing fiend, hubby brought home a lot of cheap marbles recently -- no-name decorative iridescent marbles and the like.

So Bear has plenty to play with now.

My dog is 10 years old but acts like puppy. Do I have to have that talk with him about growing up and being more responsible?

My cat won't drink water.  Seriously.  Not from a bowl.  Not from a fountain.  Not from a sink.  The only thing she will drink is condensed goat's milk, and not much of that.   She's making me crazy(er).

I don't think a bit of striping or 'swirling' in a Peerless patch is all that uncommon.

Are you speaking of the curve of the patch itself?

I was looking at all the curvy lines within the patch (and within the base) ... plus there's that little window between the red and the yellow.

Not saying yay or nay -- just seeing if we're talking about the same kind of swirling.

Pelts are without a doubt the main marbles that are attached to the name game. A Pop Eye is a Pop Eye. It’s not a Jiffy Pop. If you asked an Akro Salesman you wanted to see a corkscrew they would help you open your bottle of wine. Why? If you asked them to show you a Spiral ? They would show you a marble.

In the 1930's, "Spiral" was a specific type of corkscrew -- a colored ribbon (or a white ribbon) with clear base glass.

But I did see some prominent marble literature from maybe the 1980's which said "spirals" when talking about corks.  It might have been a MCSA publication.  That's when I learned that there was some time period when "spiral" was the common term.  I don't know when that started or how long it lasted.

And I don't know when or where we got "corkscrew".  I have wondered that also.

Steph, good thoughts to this but by (description) of a Peltier "Plum Citrus". A translucent base glass with four ribbons of opaque yellow ribbons and possible white added, with two purple transparent ribbons on opposite poles on the top and  bottom.  Marblealan used to say that the colored transparent ribbons reminded him of (jelly). Some collectors may disagree because you can take this "Citrus" family in many many directions. (For me) i like seeing at least two to six ribbons of (yellow) opaque glass in the example. Thinking Citrus, as the colors of (fruit). This is my (opinion) on this subject.  Chuck G---

I certainly didn't mean to imply Rick's marble was a Citrus.

I was just brainstorming Pelts with purple.

I've also seen some opaque no-name Rainbos with purple but that's a very vague claim so I didn't mention it and just mentioned the Citrus.
