Well, I (luckily) don't have these marbles and so I wouldn't be able to send these marbles. But I really hope that nobody is so nuts to bid for these marbles. Let's hope that ebay does care as less as for the fake-marble auctions. Ron

I hope this will help and Ebay will keep this "auction" running. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281831793376?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Any other ideas to keep these fakes away from the market ? Ron Buol www.glasmurmeln.com

Hi Steph Get up, work to do ! I started with a database of contemporary marble artists about three years ago and added all information I could get from Ebay, Etsy etc. I really appreciate your list because there are many names I have never heard of. But on the other hand I can contribute many names to your list too. Post A Pic Of The Rarest Marble In Your Collection!
Swissmarble replied to JVVmarbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Hi Bernie and Ann Yes, this onionskin is an absolute beauty. It is not mint, but it really means a lot to me, because I purchased that marble just in the night before a very good friend of mine decided to leave our company. Luckily I am still in contact with her but on this day I dedicated this marble to her. I told her later once and she was very pleased about this. Ron -

Large Bunch Of Old European Machine Made Marbles
Swissmarble replied to Swissmarble's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I didn't even know there are such marbles in this group :-) -
Hi folks I am a handmade marble collector but I know most of you are machine-made collectors. I have aquired many machine made marbles together with handmades during my 30 years of collecting. They are mainly from Europe because I live in Switzerland, so they might be very interesting for machine-made collectors from the US (if you care not just for US-machine-made marbles). I put a large bunch of 99 marbles on ebay today (see pic). If you are interested, check this out: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281522984771?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Thanks ! Ron

Hey, thanks for all your inputs. But if it was just heat the clears "window" would not "follow" the pattern, would it ? I thinkt that's the strange thing, otherwise I would have thought it is just some kind of damage. And I don't think it is a marble that was worked on later. The market for marbles in Germany is just to small for this.

Hi I got an email from a woman in Germany who picked up this marble. It seems to be an English swirl, but somehow it looks "unfinished". Only a part of the marble is clearly visible, the rest seems to be in a rough "coat". But it looks like the marble was made on purpose this way. Has anyone seen a marble like this or could anyone tell me how such a marble could be made ? Does a marble look that rough before it is polished ? So could it be, that just a part of this marble was polished on purpos after the making ? Or was something put on the marble after it was made ? I am absolutely clueless Thanks for your help. Ron

Hi folks I got some very interesting information the other day. A woman from Germany wrote me an email and attached several pictures of two marbles which she couldn't identify. The marbles look quite strange, both are quite small (14mm and 20mm) and a bit off round. There are no typical pontils, just some kind of a pit. So my guess was that these marbles were made in Tchechoslowakia probably and I asked her for more information. She informed me that she found these marbles near a small town called "Heldengut" near Passau in Germany. It's just a few miles away from the border to Tchechoslowakia. She found these marbles together with a melting oven and other glass fragments in a field. She sent me some pages of the "chronology" of this town (see attachement, it is all in German of course). According to this chronology there was a glass-hut on this place between 1546 and 1687. Could it really be that these marbles were made that early ? I really don't think these are fakes, if one fakes a marble he would try to fake something more attractive, wouldn't he ? PLMK what you think, thanks ! Ron

Clyde I disagree. I think many cloud marbles are two-pontil-marbles. A cloud is about the same marble as an onionskin, but the pattern is out of patches. I think most collectors would agree that this is a cloud-marble on the picture and this one definately has two pontils. My two cents Ron

Swissmarble replied to Stefan's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
