Contract is signed, date is Saturday Feb. 9th
-
19/32 anyhow.
-
I'm sorry, it's spelled Houzex, with a "Z"
-
It is Housex, I think they were in Pennsylvania, they also made ashtrays, and lamps, if you search the word Housex on ebay, you'll find items made with the same color glass.

Al - Whoever takes over the show would have to keep track of which rooms they asked for donations and which rooms weren't open etc. Don't think it's feasible. Greg - Alot of people walk in off the street for show day- Especially in February- it's FREE entry. Some of them are not comfortable walking into someones hotel room. Not all marbles make it past the Hotel entrance. i can't be out there watching and be in the banquet room at the same time. And what is the difference whether I'm buying my marbles as an auction business, an individual, or a show organizer? Mon- At one point when the shows were busier we did advertise in 4 newspapers. A 2 inch by 2 inch display ad is around $450. We try to keep the table rent at $35. If we rent 13 tables, we'll break even on one ad. Once at New Philly I got my ass chewed out while collecting table fees (by a guy from PA named Dave) I don't need that crap! Without any funds coming in, we cannot have a show. And I can no longer pay for this stuff out of my own pocket, so that everyone else can have a good time! So, You've attended approx. 10 shows without having to contribute anything? Good for you. Congrats! Vern - I was the one that wanted bulk marbles, I sell them to the general public for $5 a jar, not $35, that would be dishonest. Everyone- All I am saying is , I've had enough, I've done it long enough. Shows are going to be a thing of the past and the social aspect will be gone, thanks to ebay, the economy, and few new collectors. I remember the days when the hallways were packed, rooms were full of people and money and marbles were exchanging hands til 2 a.m. Seems every show gets slower and slower, I think a new excited show promoter would be a good thing.
-
For the record, when I used the term "tightass" it was in the singular and is how I feel about "that" certain individual, it was not meant toward everybody who did not rent a table! And i'm trying to come up with a response to some of you, but am having trouble keeping it brief.

OK, I quit, show cancelled! What a bunch of assholes!

didn't have a camera to take pics. I wish someone else would step up and take over the show, I'm really getting burned out from doing everything myself and have lost the motivation to promote it like it should be. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot on tuesday I was approached by someone who was highly upset because he arrived at 10:30 a.m. and his room wasn't going to be ready until 2:00 so I had to go talk to management and put a rush on cleaning his room. He sold all week long and I never saw him out of his room, yet on Saturday he didn't rent a table to support the show, tightass! This stuff goes on all week, I can't count the times I had to go to the front desk because someone wasn't happy with their room location, isn't much I can do about it but show fake concern. There are quite a few people now who take advantage of the expensive advertising and sell during room trading but don't kick anything back by renting a table. So, if anyone is interested, just contact me, the Feb. show is scheduled for Feb. 9th, It doesn't pay anything, but you'll get a few "thank yous"

Outstanding Marble Auction June 16Th Cambridge, Ohio

Forgot to mention in my explanation paragraph above, that we don't charge any buyers premium, we don't charge any sales tax, and there is no shipping fee involved. This all helps the consignor garner more profit in a roundabout way. We charge the consignors 20% of what the marbles sell for. Out of that 20% "WE" pay: the auctioneer, printing, the advertising, mailing flyers, banquet room, hired help, and any other expenses. The consignor receives exactly 80% of what the high bid is. Any funds remaining, go back into the Eagle's Flight LLC account. So, it's not like we are making a fortune. Also wanted to mention that we do have some bidders that are not on the internet, don't know exactly what some marbles are worth, and don't care. If they like them, they buy them! -

Outstanding Marble Auction June 16Th Cambridge, Ohio

Sorry guys, but I disagree. We get plenty of bidders at our auctions and it only takes 2 interested persons to drive up the price, if it was open to the entire internet or phone, fewer people would actually show up at the auction and would cause the lower valued lots to not get the attention they deserve. We started these because we wanted to get back to the old style auction, where you show up, inspect them in hand, be the high bidder, we hand you the marble, you pay your bill and take the marbles home. (Remember those days) By the end of the day, everything is finalized! And our consignors get their check within 3 or 4 days. I've seen many lots bring way more than expected because of the heat of the moment. Here in Ohio there are dozens of auctions to attend on any given day, I go to quite a few and not very many auctioneers accept bids unless you are there. Partly because of waiting for payments, hoping they clear, out of state checks, arranging for shipping charges and shipping the items, only to have the person unhappy because the item wasn't as nice as they had hoped. There is a reason our auctions are getting better every time, because it's working. If it aint broke , don't fix it. If we were going to do it any other way, we may as well sell them through Ebay and take away the whole social element. If there is anything you absolutely must have, and there is no way to attend the auction, I would suggest you email me and I can give you contact info for several persons who could bid on your behalf, but all sales are final, and shipping and payment would be totally between you and that person. It is not shill bidding, they are basically buying it and reselling it to you. [email protected] -
They are round like an Akro, but that's about it.

It's at $97 now, so it must be an Akro! ( just kidding, someone is going to get burned)
