The marble I posted is 15/16" and glows,it also corks. I have a like marble similar except it's yellow like Winnie's. I thought moss agates didn't cork. By the way, what's the difference between a Carnelein and a Cornelein ?

  9. Here's a couple more, you can see my dilemma .
  10. If you submerge the marble you can see a fat core,I'll try to get pics of this and clearer shots.
  11. 1DanS I acquired this from my grandfather in the mid 70's. He found it in a basement of a house he had bought. I'm trying to get better pics as it is amazing in hand even with the haze which is almost like a tumbled finish. I'm assuming the pontil is melted because it's almost a smooth nipple, very similar to melted pontils I've seen, no facets.
  12. It's not a giant slag, it's a melted pontil fat core, I'll post some better pics
  13. I've had this marble forever. It's a single melted pontil and is approximately 2 1/16". I pictured it "wet" because of the complete over all haze. I know it's a rare marble and would look much better without the haze. Opinions please, thank you.
  14. I agree with 1stmmrbls, the pontils indicate a much later work, pretty rough.

    Today's Find

I've got one that is similar , it's made of some sort of compound. I think they are knock offs .
  17. Thanks, the giant melted pontil was what caught my eye. Single Pontiled marbles are particularly exciting to me,and this one fit right in with the others.
  18. It took 25yrs to finally get one. The black one is pretty cool also.
  19. i recently acquired what I thought was a single pontil marble and discovered the lot also included a bunch of agates. One was a dyed agate, what a surprise! My first dyed blue agate.
