  1. Five of those. Nice. It wouldn't matter what they're made of. Those are terrific.
  2. Right on! I think this must be a cardinal event for all beginners....in my case, 'possibly' oxblood everywhere I turned. Except that it wasn't. And the first one I found was in the wild, and right away, I knew what was oxblood (minus those pesky ones that still tempt and try to fool us), and what wasn't.
  3. We knew this month would rule, didn't we? Nice oxbloods everyone. More, the fans scream, more!
  4. Nice one just up there. I would think a good guess is that it is an Akro that didn't cork. I have one that is completely folded like yours so that the two seams nearly meet. I can also match the cork in those colors and the dark wood grain red....I'll see if I can find the file and post. John
  5. Gotta keep CAC on the first page now, don't we?
  6. Those are terrific. And this one on amber glass (posted recently on enemy territory--just kidding!).
  7. That mulberry is very sweet. I don't have any of those 'bricks' (oddly and unfortunately named), and that one up there is a real looker. I'll wait have to wait for my turn for any one of those. Can't for the life of me figure out why those didn't hit the market. The high flying 20's up to the depression, sure had its excesses...these, a textbook example.
  8. That whopper MFC would go into my favorite pile too. I have a lot of slag favorites! Keep the slags coming everyone!
  9. Taming the speed of light within inches of itself is a real challenge and fun if you let it be. I wouldn't sweat the camera either...I think we think that a fancy camera is needed to achieve better than average results. It's not like a Stradivarius violin would make anyone a great violinist. But a great violinist can make a piece of junk sound great. This camera thing goes the same way I think. I just ordered another battery too... when I have time to photograph, I don't want to stop and re-charge. That will help! I've found about three of these too...mine are very similar if not the same as yours...kind of a peach or salmon color, and somewhat botchy as well. I don't think I've photographed it yet. I really appreciate that you don't ignore the white based corks....there's lots of diversity in these if one stops to take a closer look. Look for a Joby desktop tripod...only about six inches tall but perfect for this; it won't break the bank, and you'll have more cash for mibs down the road...[Edit:Did I mean to say blotchy, or botchy? I don't know! A happy accident I guess).
  10. I like this type. Variegated blues.
  11. Here is an interesting vaseline spiral uncorked...the opaque white ribbon like onyx. john
  12. Wow, that amber ox is weird! Another to the list. It's getting kind of long! Very nice!
  13. That's a nice one up there Jessica, and worthy of it's condition. That mahogany one has lots of dimply wear too, but I'll take the only one I've found so far for sure. Both are nice oddball Akros. I haven't found one of those green on blue yet...another gets added to the list! That 'specular' light on the photos is nice too. It gives a better sense of roundness to the image--as you know, 'flattening' is a significant challenge for marble photography. John
  14. Those last two are interesting. Working on photographs today; it seems I hoard yellow transparent swirls...a small hoard of a number of different types.
  15. That's a fun fact and great story. Another bit for the brain files!
  16. Killer mibs....those green bricks are choice! And the rest no slouches too, especially the ox Pelt which is exemplary. Nice Alleys up there too. This thread is shaping up nicely.
  17. Ric and Jessica, those two are really sharp mibs! john
  18. That ox slag is terrific. Great catch...that's a fair bit of ox hiding in there!
  19. A nice white slag. Totally underrated, unjustifiably ignored. Actually don't have too many of the HG white slags for sure. John
  20. Just something to look at. Twisting goodness. John
  21. What a great idea! This should be fun. Posted previously at Steph's study hall, but hey, I could get my hand on this one pretty STAT, so why not post again...it will get lost in the months to come anyway! Nice oxbloods up there already.
  22. I think so. My represent thinking is that this is Alley too. Sure look like like near twins! Cool!
  23. Thanks Ann! That was helpful! John
