I think the CAC Alley Pelt Superman is a CAC swirl....based on the clear separation of the glass colors, the opacity of the glass, and because I don't have experience with the Alley version...so it might just be that too!

That makes two of us. I don't know why, but I often want to know the age, sequencing, and production era of marbles. I've been told by many collectors that it just doesn't matter to them...but I often find myself wondering if this or that marble is pre or post depression, pre or post WWII etc.

That minty blue snake/spiral Cheese posted above Richard's post is interesting, I like those...you've found one more than I have... that waxiness of the ribbons in this color combination is distinctive. Just worked on these photos of this orange vaseline moss agate goodness. John

Interesting Ann. Couple of things...I've been on this shooter and under size requirement for some time....but occasionally I stumble on the bigger sizes of all types of marbles and have hung on to those too. Mostly, I'm collecting and not selling, and so, if I want to see them as bigger marbles, I just use my scope or loop and bingo, the get bigger! Storage issues are lower, and I find more specimens, for less money, and have much more room for them in my drawers. I rather think big marbles are sometimes kludgy, overstated and indelicate. And, I too only have one sulfide and it breaks my size rule by almost 2x that came along with a small number of hand mades....and I decided too I should have one. A first and last sulfide for me (and but I don't decry those who like them; I enjoy the enthusiasms of others even if I don't tag along).

Nice ones Ann! Like them all, especially soft spot over here for Tracers. I found a wild one last week, but not quite as nice as the one above.

So I lost my hard drive the other day to basic aging issues--crammed as it was with thousands of marble pictures and the detritus of work. Lost a fair amount of photos not yet cropped, although much of my edited mib files were backed up more recently. Still, I lost fair amount. I'm trying to see this philosophically: So now I have another another chance to get better images, improve on lighting, and relearn and re-experience marbles. Good thing marbles are physical media is all I can say; there they sit, ready for another round. I don't mind either, or I'm trying to convince myself so, and but it wouldn't much matter if I did anyway...lost is lost. So today a new reshoot of this oxblood cork I hadn't shared previously. john

I agree, an Akro carnelian. Carnelian is a color type and also a variety of agate. No doubt they were trying to mimic the appearance and color of aggies. Don't find them so big that often. John

I've seen a double sparkler as well. I have never seen a triple ingot of anything.

A lavender and yellow cork...or, a kind of lavender anyway. I recently made the happy mistake of going to wiki to see an example of lavender. Wow, did I get some examples, and a good analysis and history of the color. Many kinds of lavender apparently. Different lavenders moving from dark to light, purple to almost brown/gray, light purple blues and all sorts of cool names and everything. Apparently this one has a variety of lavenders in the ribbon: lavender blush, lavender gray is there, and maybe others, and my personal favorite match, languid lavender. (!) I guess I'll call this my languid corkscrew from now on. John
