  1. This one is sort of brownish. Just found this last week.
  2. Nice. It's a mindfulness thing. Collect what you like/like what you collect. The monetary aspect is a bit troubling to me sometimes...and the equation value=interest is unfortunate, especially when also interested in history and what some would consider boring, brown or simply colored or more common marbles. As my father, a great collector of things was fond of saying "it isn't worth anything until you have cash in hand" seems about right.
  3. Nice to see that date and all those in place. I've always considered these patches in the 1940's and later than earlier...but just a hunch.
  4. Nice to have your participating from 'over the pond.' John
  5. Working on some marble photographs, and for a change I'll just post something without worrying about the manufacturer, which I struggle with all the time when working with slags. A big part of marbles for me is finding those nice examples like this one. John
  6. Thanks for the nods Steph and Richard. Another.
  7. Really like these slightly opalescent Tri-Lites a great deal too.
  8. Thought this worthy of some exposure...lots of colors here...I tend to not be able to count the number of colors with any confidence on these really blendy types.
  9. These appear on this thread already, but heck, I like this form a good deal. Couldn't hurt to see more, could it?
  10. I really like these. Off-white base, really blendy colors, lots of different shades of orange.
  11. An interesting little Rainbo that throws light weirdly all over the place.
  12. The blue onyx is nice too...I've only found a few of those...and that green tightline one is nice...I have its cousin in an aqua/cyan color. And the last one above is a great oddball... John
  13. I agree with Ann on all counts. As many of us have experienced, a few of the of the hand gathered slags do run horizontally and rarely back to the nine or pole, but usually not a terrific number of times but they don't always. And while I describe these as horizontal tails, I think it's best to leave this tag for for the pontil'ed varieties.
  14. Thanks for the comments! Much appreciated. Sharing another today.
  15. I decided to remove the pictures. I get the argument that CAC colors don't blend, but I also like to think that sometimes rules are broken, and almost every blanket statement I've seen claimed about mibs has a contrarian example. For example, we use the term 'electric' for CAC colors, but that doesn't cover them all, and I think can be misleading and generally unhelpful. The better term might be 'assertive' colors. I'm open to the idea that maybe a few CAC mibs blend a bit. Oh well, I'll put it back in the 'pretend' CAC pile for now. I removed the pictures figuring if there was some doubt (which there was), then a CAC picture thread isn't where it needs to be. FWIW, I concede that drizzle that followed might be Prima or AA...my thinking of them changes like the weather. Presently I have no idea about those forms.
  16. That would be one of those, "I learned it that way before," and agree, it doesn't match the other CAC's I've collected since. Chalk it up to learning, which is why I am here. I think I will pull down the picture. I don't want to mislead.
  17. Those Pelt red slags are pretty enough. I don't see too many of these; I'd say a few condition issues is just fine in my book.
  18. Yep, Steph, your work is greatly appreciated...you can post something ordinary and she'll chime in about its extra-ordinariousness....enthusiasm for everything it seems. John
  19. I agree. I don't have a Euro example like this in my head, and I've seen more than I have collected. I'm on the don't know train.
  20. Sometimes, with slags, getting it down to a few possibilities is the best that can be done.
  21. Those are interesting....slags are tough....based on the photos I really can't be sure. They might be Euro/German. On these, often around the cut/seams, the white does not meet right at the cut, but appears pulled away a bit. Your examples appear to do this, but I can't be sure based on the angles. John

    Master?

Richard, I would think this one is Asian too and not a Master. John
  23. Maybe a carpel tunnel sort of thing! That big blue one sure looks like a match to the green one above.
  24. Scott...oh man, look at THAT! Aces! John
