Oops...wrong thread! Nice mib! John

Well said. I've neglected these too. More examples on the way!

You know, I think the feel of the glass in the ribbon is less classically onyx-like, which seems to me smoother, less translucent, and more massive feeling usually. Usually. I think this is the correct interpretation. I'll have to check the rest of the collection to see if I have another. Other colored snakes out there? Would love to see them! John

Sufficiently odd enough to post here, I think. Orange on red...not technically, in my thinking an onyx (transparent base, white or cream ribbons) or a snake (clear base with colored ribbons). I think it a orange snake/onyx. I've only found one of these. John

Agree. Couldn't #2 also be a Tiger Eye variant? Seems to have the structure of a TE rather than a Sunburst. John

Wow! That last one!

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing some of those! John

This has been a highly interesting thread, and great to see so much sleuthing going on. I'm with others here, in that I really am interested in the history and times of production of early marbles. I like to know the time frame of mibs. I've always treated these as earlier, pre-depression mibs, but not really sure how far to go back. Is there a possibility that these might have been produced earlier (maybe just a few years, and/or perhaps concurrently) and re-marketed? John

0.60" I've had this for some time, figuring it is so distinctive I'd run into this at one time or another. No such luck. Re-imaged this today, and thought I'd post this for discussion. Thanks!

I've been working on mibs for much of the last few days, mostly photography. This one seemed 'busy' enough to share.

Nice chalky conqueror...I have lots of the too, some with a fair amount of chalk, but nothing like this one!

I received a few of these from my friend M. She said she got all of hers in one lot, some years ago. Neat-o.

Yes, I think so. My understanding is that it's a "snake" on colored glass that has an internal, auger-like snake partly down the axis of the poles, and whirls out. This only runs on the outside, the middle picture captures that back of the ribbon traveling behind.

Nice examples! Don't have (I don't think) a Pelt yet. I'm jealous!

Great information and discussion. Appreciated adding a few more tidbits, to a brain over-filled with them.

This thread got me to tinkering with the lighting and another example of a vaseline slag (not the one in #5, I think!).

Ha! Maybe sarcasm is kinda like this:

I think I recall Steph saying she isn't much of a fan of these; I'd admit to having more than a few hang around here with the other Akros. Imaging can be tricky with these. After more than a bit of tinkering, I came up with this.
