  1. Lots of nice stuff. Near the big light blue boulder, slightly to its lower right is an Akro oxblood carnelian that looks good. There are others here too....slags, maybe some transitionals, and pelts and other Akro corks. I'd say, if it is as nice as it appears, that you got a deal. Always hard to tell without them in hand.
  2. A recent cub scout added to the ranks.
  3. Posted examples previously, but another nice example. Why not another!?
  4. Dislike greatly the name of this marble (biscuits and gravy). Undignified; and I even like the food item.
  5. Well your nice description correlates to my understanding too. I think it is helpful to know, that there is always more I should know. This process of discovery is what I like most about marbles. The mysteries occupy me more than the certainties, usually!
  6. Thanks, Ann! So, do you mean to say that you think most of the AA you have seen are really Prima Agates? Just want to make sure I understand... It might be a while before I get through some other mib projects before I can do this...but will surely be making a post on all of my maybe Prima or American Agates so the group can discuss.
  7. A colorful, if but a bit dinged, superman.
  8. Well, I'll take a chance and post this one as an American Agate drizzle! On a previous post under the Pelts today, I expressed my uncertainty about Primas. I suppose I could be wrong here. I'll remove if I am! John
  9. That is terrific! I really appreciate these. I think I get Cerise, and will dig out my candidates...but it seems more straightforward. The Primas are the problem! Those get real close to American agates from far away, and which I love, and hoard as much as my luck allows. I wonder if I have Primas all mixed in with these. I've seen lots of "putative" examples of both in hand and in photos. But I'm troubled. I thought, but maybe misunderstood, that American Agates can have a mix of orange with the red. When I make that photo bigger, the orange is overlaid on the white so maybe is just modulated red; there appears also in picture there is overlaid transparent glass that goes deep, and while hard to tell, the demarcation between the colors might be blurrier. Also, it appears there is just deeper movement of the red into the marble, than what I take to be CA American Agates to have. Is this just one of those things we'll never be quite be sure of? I don't know. I wonder/worry that I (and maybe we) am mixed up about these for some examples. Thoughts/examples appreciated! John (Once I get through some other projects, I will re-image my examples and make a jumbo post of examples of these...maybe we can puzzle through them.)
  10. Outstanding. Do you have closer, individual pictures? I'm really struggling with cerise and prima, I'd sure like some closer views of those things. Anybody wanting to post what they think are Prima and Cerise agates, please do! Some of my possible candidates are giving me fits! (I can get a feel, maybe better for Cerise, but the number three prima, I would think is very American agate-ish).
  11. Agree with Ann! I can't think of another manufacturer, and I'm bummed that I haven't yet found a Pelt yet. And yes, I've seen no reliable information in the history of MFC that vaseline glass was ever made by them. Also, big surprise, but I've been unable with any confidence to separate out my putative Akros and CAC vaseline slags...they sit together for now. John
  12. I haven't run it down either...keep running into other mib work when I do! Working on photography almost exclusively this weekend. I'll keep the hunt on for it.
  13. Nope, just one! Good suggestions!
  14. I know, I know, maybe we will get nowhere with this one too! A malformed slag? Something else? Worth a try. The white is only on the outside of the mib, and is 0.66." Thanks!
