SSSSSLLLLLLUURRRRP. Man I want one of those...

4 colored cats eyes - mmmmm, fair enough distinction....although 4 colors could be any 4 colors. I have heard them called beachball cats eyes, or mock St Mary's cats eyes....but from what I understand, St Mary's cats eyes also were made in blue and yellow and the colors crossed through....so calling these blue, yellow, green, and red catseye "beachball" cats eyes is a finer distinction of color and pattern I suppose. Lets see the beachball by Vitro -love to see a picture Duffy - I think I have before - is it similar to a Parrot without the waves? These sold overnight.... I might be able to put together one more collectors box if anyone is interested, drop me a note. I only have about 3 dozen marbles left and 2 dozen go into a box...the rest I will keep in my own collection.

Anybody Recognize This?

I am pretty sure Sarah bought it at the sea-tac marble show a few years ago - maybe that helps narrow the field....I know David Salazar was there - but its not one of his....or maybe it is....the first letter could be a lower case "d" and the second a messed up "s" ...did David makes vortex marbles like this? -

that actually does show the date 04 - thanks for the help. -
I did a search for "Beach Ball Cats Eyes" on this forum and nothing comes up - so I thought I would create a post and show some off, and see what everyone has - I have a few left of the ones made in 2001(date?) that Marble King did attempting to recreate the St Marys BBcats from the 1950's I have not been able to get my hands on any of the original St Marys cats in the beach ball variety - I do have these up for sale on the Marble Mansion etsy site - HERE

some day about 100 years from now - an archealogist will be investigating the property surrounding the former "marble mansion" and will discover thousands of broken chipped fractured and worthless balls of glass were thrown one by one into the water retention pond behind my house...of course the fractured pieces of semi spherical glass shapes will be cleaned up and sold on "futurE-bay" for thousands of denari as antique vintage glass.

yea - lavendar is not the most popular color....I had some opaque or translucent pastel colors from MK awhile back - but I think they are gone now. Purple is close but not pinkish enough - like you avatar

an "Asian transitional" - wow - never heard of those - are they new or vintage? and what part of Asia are they from?

It is 1" 1/8th - it is a vortex marble.. I was hoping someone would "reck-cog-anize" the signature....you can see it etched into the glass on the left side in the original photo at the top. -

to the answers: kind of a trick question cause I said which ONE is not oxblood when actually 2 are not oxblood. Right, the top right one is not oxblood and that is how I was originally taught how to determine if I had oxblood or not - take a pen light and shine it into the glass - if you can see into it - its not oxblood...but the best way is to get an oxblood in your hand and then compare - its hard to explain, even with photos. Also the silver oxblood is right - and the top left is not oxblood - it is just a plain opaque red glass. There are a few more on my blog to check out for fun - and you can leave comments there too if you wish - I saw the post here about "who used oxblood" which is great information too....

Not quite sure why the images uploaded to my server show up here for a while, and then disappear .....*shrug* I uploaded them to the board. Fixed! Enjoy!

$9.99 with a reserve is the cheapest way to go listing wise...if you must achieve a proper price - Ebay charges you MORE for listings starting over $9.99 even if the item does not sell. Sometimes all it takes is a question to the seller to find out the reserve - usually they are willing to let you know what it is.

Here is a photo of the header of a bag that Marblealan sold on Ebay a while ago. I remember Alan stating in the listing how "ugly" and colorless Hy-Grades were.....so there is all I know about them - I had never heard of them before until I saw Alans listing on them. Well come to think of it I looked in my Complete Line of Akro Agate Co. Book published by Roger and Claudia Hardy and on page 20 they show a picture of Akro Hy-Grade bag with 25 mm marbles in it - but they are all patches and bright colors and they appear to be translucent "moss agate" type. They have a bag right next to the HY-GRADES that looks identical and the header says "HOT SHOTS" on it....so they are the same marbles just different sales approaches.
