  2. Oh man - no kidding - I finally was able to get my first dragonfly just recently! I STILL need a real watermelon....if anyone has a heart..... btw you can see the real big up close pics of those dug MKs here http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gWycKWu9eFg/Sea_...le+Kings007.JPG and here http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gWycKWu9eFg/Sea-...le+Kings006.JPG there is even a PINK one in there!
  3. Well speaking of bumble bees - I put up a REAL double ingot bumble bee on the blog tonight - along with a multiple assorted pics of some original bags and a light discussion about DUG Marble Kings. Here is a sneak preview:
  4. No problem - I only lived in Nevada for a very short while when I was like 11 or something - and I never knew anything about marbles back then. I was given my collection from my Grandfather when he passed away when I turned 20. Dern it - you are making me feel old now.
  5. Thanks for voting Lisa! I will add a little to the blog each day - posting more and more of my own collection on there so stay tuned. :Happy_457:
  6. Heres some big shooters! yours looks kinda like the same color as the one on the far right:
  7. Thanks marie - she has made some sales - if anyone is interested in some contemporaries - she has quite a few up on the site - marie - you can view my history and personal information on my profile pages.
  8. Here is an MK beach ball cats eye with debris and a really weird pee wee Vacor neptune - that nearly had a hole through it... These arrived in the factory packaging this way.
  9. Dunno - the top one Akro or maybe Peltier the second one looks so beat up its hardly worth ID since it wouldnt figure prominently in a displayed collection - but the clear glass makes me think Vitro.
  10. My daughter has set up a website to sell her new handmade girls dresses, homemade rag quilts, memo boards and etc....as part of her listings - she began a section for marbles - Marbles for SALE - this is NOT Ebay the dresses and stuff are here ( if you are interested in girly stuff ) kirkskorner Sarah asked me to participate in creating a blog to help the sales on her marble section - so I started one off today...you can take a peek and visit - vote on the POLL - and even post a response. THE BLOG IS HERE Thanks for playing!
  11. Only the white one might be Vacor Streamer - the rest are way cool...rarely seen anything like them - esp that size.
  12. How 'bout opinions- Did Akro ever put out a red clear based marble with white ghosted swirls on the "surface" only....empahsize surface... I know that Jabo and Vacor have both put out such a marble - where the white is almost an whisper across the surface...but wasn't the white in clear Akro glass fairly significant and bold and penetrated into the glass - not just surfacey??? Just wondering if that would be one way of helping to distinguish Akro from the new stuff? Vacor Roosters for reference: Notice how the white is mostly on the surface?
  13. not following - So Bob is thinking these were made when????
  14. so - i wonder what one could find doing some research at the public library of old microfiche from local newspaper archives....I mean Centralia is right down the road from me....
  15. Are you just finding these in the history archives of old newspapers? Printing the ads from the micrfilms? How did you find them?
  16. Marble King used to veneer them to reduce the cost of making the colored glass - I don't think that is a problem nowadays....in fact it would be more of a hassel to veneer them and less cost effective most likely. But I don't know - when last I stopped buying MKs in 2003 - they were not veneered....and they never reprodeced a PRP pattern like the one from the 50's and 60's YET - but I am sure they could if they wanted to.
  17. marble seller 1STOP is certainly selling alot of Spiderman marbles and now he is unloading Green Hornets - I have bought many marbles from him in the past - and most of them are pretty nice - dont look to be dug - I wonder where they are all coming from?
  18. man, from the display art, I woulda thought it was a Zorro movie...
  19. Here is one more pick that shows the old 1950s style of Patch Ribbon Patch pretty well too:
  20. More Marble Kings for comparisons: Here is a collection of 1950s MKS Here is a set of year 2000 MKS And a set of translucent 2001 MKS This picture shows the Patch Ribbon Patch of a 1950s style Spiderman And this show the newer MK watermelon: The new can look decieving from cetain angles - but the top patch completely covers the surface - so its only a Patch / 1/2 Ribbon/ Patch --- if that makes sense...
  21. Here is a great set - I have nothing like these: This image is from an auction on Ebay - here some of the Jabo swirls patterns are amazing .
  22. Yes that was my website - not much time for marbles these days - although I was really sad to close down the website because it did contain tons of valuable information concerning not only Vacors marbles, but antiques overall. By the way a geat site to see good quality photos of the more current Vacors is: http://www.emarbles.com/mega1.htm
  23. To answer Scoops question about Vacor.....yes, Vacor and Mega Marbles are connected. Vacor ( http://www.vacor.com.mx/ ) makes marbles in Mexico and the marbles have their names in Spanish down there. Mega Marbles ( http://www.megamarbles.com/Toy%20Pages/Toy_Home_Page.htm ) purchases and distributes Vacors here in the USA and markets them under "American" names. Mega Marbles was notorious for discontinuing a style and then picking it up again under a new name. So most of the marble "styles" Wayne is seeking are still being made today - just being distributed under new names. Original older bags were pretty hard to find, especially with original header cards.
