Me too! Itโs like amber dust or something in those veins. A funny thing is that my partner brought home a box of ice cream which was vanilla with almond croquante. That icecream taste (and look?) like the marble look. ๐

How about it? Anyone?

Your best marble display stand ideas

Smart! And you get a nice bokeh as well with all focus just on the marble. ๐๐ผ -

I have seen those on your photos but what are they? ๐ฌ -
Oh, it was those three. Great! I can see the pictures @Chad G. but I canโt access the link.

Ok! So I did a research based on what you wrote and I came up with this: 1. Fiesta or Halloween 2. Marine or Neptune 3. Octupus (not convinced though) What do you think?
-
I got these three from a recent lot. The first one has a lot of dents and scratches and the deep blue one has interesting white lines on the inside. I had to over expose the picture of the purple one to get a hint of the transparency and itโs still hard to see. Is it possible to ID any of them? Are they newer or older?

Often, when i take pictures of my marbles, the marble will not settle in one particular spot. Iโm sure that Iโm not the only one with this world evolving and prime time news worthy problem. ๐ I have a few idรฉas that Iโm sure will work but Iโm curious; What do you put under your marbles to keep them still for the camera? Show and tell! ๐

They are, arenโt they? ๐

Seriously, can you?

I have been searching for marbles, slightly manic. ๐ I have to cool down a bit but itโs so exciting. Most of the time I buy lots and sort out the ones I want afterwards. Anyhow, here are five marbles that were in my latest purchase. They are about 15 mm, except for the yellow stripey which is about 23 mm. The first and the last ones are (Veligglass?) wirepulls, right? What do you say?

Great! I actually recognize a couple of pontil types from marbles i have. Now I have a deeper understanding about what to look for. Thanks! ๐๐ผ

Basically yes, thatโs the marble that caught my eye. The rest of the lot is maybe not as exciting but there might be a couple. Itโs an online auction so I donโt know where it will end.

When you are saying nice things about my cat (her name is Sami) you can go as much off topic as you like. ๐

Ok, Iโm sticking my chin out; Canโt you put them in the dishwasher?
-
Wow! Thank you kindly @Chad G.! ๐ So, a Yellow Latticinio. Yes, from the looks of it I assume it is about that size. I got curious about you calling the left hand twist. Is that a rare thing @I'llhavethat1? Is there a price indication?

I have a chance on this (and a few others) marble. The seller has had it since the 60โs. From what I have learned, it looks handmade. What do you say? (Seller took the photos)

Beautiful! ๐

A straight up question: How do I tell the difference between a machine made marble and a hand made marble? ๐ค

Looking for a guide book...?
Chris Parson replied to Chris Parson's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Thank you all! I am still thinking if it will serve me in any way. I will check out the books you have mentioned. ๐๐ผ -
I have been looking for various guide books on the delicate subject of marbles. ๐ I am very green and get valuable help from all of you people. @Mojo has sent me great photos of what to look for (qualities, veins, patterns etc.) and I've saved those on my phone as reference material. ๐ There are four books in particular that have popped up. 1. "Marbles: The guide to cat's-eyes marbles" by Marlow Peterson 2. "The World of Cat's Eye Marbles" by Elizabeth Kempski 3. "Collecting Marbles: A Beginner's Guide" also by Elizabeth Kempski 4. "Marbles Identification and Price Guide" by Robert Block What do you think, or what advise can you give me? There's also the fact that European and US marbles (from what I understand) differ, for example in terms of manufacturer. Maybe I should not get a book at all ๐ and just stick to my gut feeling, this forum and my (un)common sense?

Well... I follow my goosebumps when it comes to interests. ๐ Not that I am looking for followers or seek people to follow but itโs basically all here: instagram.com/mrchrisparson

Yeah, sorry about that. It's the fabric shining through, so the marble is clear on those parts. I googled the Vitro Victory and as you say @Al Oregon, I could be that.

Thank you kindly! Sometimes itโs hard to do them justice. ๐
