Thank you Ric!!! 💚💚💚

I don’t intend to ruffle any feathers, this is just a specific topic that has caused me confusion; mainly because I’m getting conflicting info. I was previously of the understanding that “Prize Names” were 2-color opaques, AND one of the 5 listed color ways from the original ADs. (taken from Steph’s Study Hall) However, a more experienced collector pointed me towards the Marble Collecting Society site which classifies any 2-color opaque as a Prize Name, including white. Doesn’t really matter, just some confusion on my end; the mibs are just as pretty no matter how they’re sorted. I will say though, the 5 original color ways are more-desirable for me (Blue/Yellow is mmmmmmm). And as an avid Pokémon card collector, I call em “1st Edition Prize Names”. Don’t worry though, I won’t spread that lol.

Prize name? 2-colors, both opaque - that’s how I understand em.

Two contemporaries, both made right here in Kansas. 2020 Bryan Clark Fumed "Threadstamp" 2021 Ryan Haney Layered Dot-Stack w/ UV

X2 Akro At least that’s how I’ve sorted a similar one. As Ric mentioned, I really like the candy-like appearance!

Thanks for the feedback! #1 does seem to possibly have AV when viewed under a bright-light. I need a loupe... "Gimme the loupe, gimme the loupe" Any Biggie/hip-hop fans? lol I think I'd have to call #2 my favorite due to the wild edges and double-backed ribbon of darker red; but don't let the others hear me calling favorite - they're all great! I took a look back through my possibly-Akro compartments, and found a similar white/green as #4 from OP; this hammers Akro for me. The white/green match identically, it is slightly larger than #4 at 17mm

Fairly confident that #1-3 are PPP, I'm leaning possibly Akro on #4-7 Marble #1 (SHIIIIIINY - Like patent leather) 16mm Marble #2 15mm Marble #3 16mm Marble #4 16mm Marble #5 16mm Marble #6 16mm Marble #7 17mm

I initially had these sorted as Peerless Patches, but noticed these two have opalescent bases; which I understand as the qualifier for Realers. Am I on the right track here? Both are 16mm Marble #1 Marble #2

Some impulse purchases, that I’m satisfied with. A sealed Charmander bag that is especially cool because the shown marble is Pikachu! The shown marble is always random, from the first 50 Pokémon (for series 1), so ~2% chance for Pikachu. Charmander and Pikachu were my favorite starters as a child, so this is neat to have on the shelf! Most of my Pokémon collection is in storage, maybe I’ll post a picture when I get it unpacked. Don’t plan on opening it, and I don’t plan on buying more unless I find an insanely good deal. The price for these Pokémon marbles is definitely increasing at the moment. It was tough to pay what I did for this, but I don’t want to pay double in a year… My second purchase is related, a magazine advertisement from Toy Biz for the Pokémon marbles. I particularly love the message at the bottom, “ARTWORK SUBJECT TO CHANGE”, because none of the marbles in the ad depict what was actually produced. Gonna frame this up.

MARBOLOUS | 360° Design Marble Track
Fuzzy Chubbs replied to bumblebee's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
They list “add-on” marbles of varying colors, so I imagine you could replace with your own. There’s no mention of size. -

Make sure to check out Stephen Bahr on YouTube! https://youtube.com/c/StephenBahr Hands down the best marble videos on the internet, IMO. I had a related thought the other day; how long until we see marble sorting popularized in Twitch streams? I feel it’s only a matter of time, as the younger generation picks up the hobby. If I wasn’t as busy (and more confident) I’d give it a whack.

As a novice who’s only been sorting for less than 6 months, here’s my process: Sort by color AND pattern (pattern is most important) Look at all of your marbles up close, in comparison to each other Research, research, RESEARCH Look at your marbles some more Research some more Eventually you’ll start to recognize marbles you’ve sorted Sort marbles of different colors but similar patterns together Post some tasty pics of marbles you think you’ve identified Sit and wait for experts advice Look at more marbles while you wait I imagine someone’s going to step in and suggest not sorting by color, as it’s most important to identify the manufacturer; and most colors were used throughout the industry by multiple companies. But personally, separating by color helped me feel less overwhelmed from the start and I’ve been separating by manufacturer/pattern since. I imagine that I’ll eventually lose that habit of initially sorting based on color. Don’t expect it to come quickly or easily, you’re seeing hundreds (thousands? probably!) of years of cumulative knowledge on these forums!!

Initially sorted these both with other Pelt Rainbos, but closer inspection shows just one seam; so here I am with a stick in my spokes. Marble #1 Red/Green 16mm Marble #2 Orange/White 17mm

Marble #1 Opalescent Based Rainbo? Or possibly Grey? Or Muddied? The thickest patch of base glass is noticeably more opaque, as shown in the photos; if that's any help/indicator. 18mm Marble #2 NLR Zebra? Unsure if there's any AV, this mib is rather scuffed so any shimmer can't really be differentiated from damage. WITHOUT A LOUPE. Hope to pick one up soon. ("Gimme the loupe, Gimme the loupe", any Biggie/hip-hop fans? lol) This white base glass is noticeably more opaque than Marble #1 17mm Marble #3 Rebel? Would this qualify as NLR? 17mm Marble #4 This seems like a wanna-be Sunset. There are quite a few sections of clear, the shadowing seen in the photos, but I don't think it's enough to be called a "clear base". Soo... hmmm... idk 16mm

Labeled Cherry Bomb 🍒💣 Thank you all!
-
-
Is this description I found on another site accurate? "a cherry bomb will have ribbons that go deep into the marble and a ruby slipper was more of a brushed white" ... So no AV in a "Ruby Slipper"? Lines up with what you're all saying, just want to ensure I'm not off thinking ruby slipper contains AV. Since the Ruby Bee must contain AV (versus Red Bee which has no AV(to my understanding)), I had assumed the "Ruby" term when referred to Pelts would infer AV in the transparent red. ... This is an opaque rainbo I sorted (regardless of the thread title), per a discussion in another thread on Friday I chalked it up as a "Red Bee". Is that right? Another question b/c I'm full of em; would this be considered a NLR? My understanding is the NLR ribbons were more brushed onto the surface and didn't traverse deep into the marble. I have a tough time determining how deep the ribbons run on opaque rainbos. Is there another way to tell? (oh look another question ) Apologies if the background is distracting, I like it lol

My guess is Alley, similar to a "shortcake" but unsure if it hits the mark - "white base, with red swirl that fades to pink with a small amount of tan". This marble doesn't have any pink, rather the red transitions to a nice orange; there is some tan included. My pictures really don't do this marble justice, absolute candy to my eyes! Possibly Cairo? Ravenswood? I have a few dozen swirls sorted into "Alley" compartments, and about equal other "mystery swirls"; but I imagine a lot are mis-identified. This is my favorite of the bunch, with similar pattern/structure to others; so hoping to get a solid ID on this marble to reference w/ others in-hand. TYIA 😁

Awesome mibs Fire!! Thanks for sharing!

I'm gonna guess that it's two ribbons meeting, making it seem like they 'cross through' the marble. Because of the manufacturing process, it can't have a ribbon going through, since the marble is 'cut in half'. Maybe?
-
Is this in reference to the white ribbons lining up? I will note that while they do meet at both seams, they are separate ribbons with a gap in the core of the marble. So, is a "Cross Through" when two seemingly separate ribbons are made on opposite sides from one stream of glass? Or just when any two ribbons of the same color meet on both seams?
