  1. Fairly confident that this group is all Peltier, specifically Rainbos; although a bit hesitant on the red marble. It has peltish ribbons with two seams, but the ribbons swirl more than the other Rainbos I've identified. Could it be a Ruby Slipper? I saw mention that the Pelt "Ruby Bee" has to contain AV; this marble definitely does not contain any AV.
  2. Clear-based marbles are tricky to photograph, and I haven't yet macgyvered a good way to take backlit photos; so I hope these photos aren't too muddled by refraction! Mib #1 especially pops in-hand! Marble #1 16mm Clear Base 2 White Ribbons Each contains a strand of yellow/orange I'm guessing this is a separate color from the red, but can't be positive 2 Red Ribbons Each contains a strand of white Marble #2 16mm Clear Base 2 Opaque White Ribbons 2 Translucent Red Ribbons
  3. I thought the same (bocce ball)! The metal also seems more like tin, stamped similar to tin ceiling tiles. Google Lens returns a similar item for sale on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/194906379245 The seller describes it as made of tin, in India; for what it's worth. Googling "Tin carpet ball" turned up a similar item, although slightly larger with brass included: https://www.ebay.com/itm/264996499323 Cool orb!!!
  4. Casey didn't strike out today! Thanks!
  5. Are these 3 Peltier Rainbo "baseballs"? https://www.peltiermarbles.info/copy-of-tracers-2 All 3 are 15mm or a hair off. Marble #1 Marble #2 Marble #3
  6. Careful taking anything from a squirrel, theyโ€™re notoriously rebellious
  7. Hereโ€™s a YouTube video of Mark Mathews working in his studio on a variety of marbles; animal prints, swirls/chevrons, and geometric patterns (my favorite). It also contains commentary from Bill Gudenrath who was in the studio with Mark. Bill is an absolute master as well, although he almost exclusively makes vessels; no marbles afaik.
  8. I think youโ€™re right Ric! Brian Bowden has a couple for sale on his contemporary marble site: https://pbase.com/bkbowden/mm38 same size, 5 swirls (nice catch Chad), with similar pontil mark BTW there are some SERIOUSLY awesome contemporary marbles on that site. Brian posts glimpses into his personal collection on Instagram and theyโ€™re jaw-dropping.
  9. Thatโ€™s an awesome cork! Did you check for UV?
  10. Hereโ€™s a pic of what I think is a Superboy, has a bit of orange but no prominent yellow. 5/8โ€
  11. Me and my better half โค๏ธ As you can tell, I'm a big fan of tye-dye ๐ŸŒˆ BTW that's not my gut hanging out, just my favorite fanny pack ๐Ÿ˜† Edit: Completely forgot, I'd have to admit that modern handmades probably light up my eyes the most but vintage machine-made mibs have recently become an interest. My intro to marbles as an adult was watching the master Mark Mathews.
  12. P.s. I just received notification of "Explorer" badge and it gave me a giddy smile; this hobby definitely fills a bit like an exploration and I really appreciate being fortunate to have friendly guides with robust resources. Seriously, you're all awesome and you're gonna keep hearing it from me Have a Phenomenal Friday evening
  13. Could someone either paste a link to a good description of MCS vs Rainbo? Or explain further than 1 seam vs 2 seam? That's about the only finite description I've found. Here's a gaggle of what I think are Pelts, and could be considered MCS although I think most may still be Rainbos; definitely no NLR. I plan to take glam shots of each to archive and can do further digging then, just want to get a rough feel. I also found a much smaller mib of the OP colorway, not quite a peewee (<1/2" as I understand) but still a sweetie. BTW I've found this trendy "popper" toy rather handy for sorting marbles ๐Ÿ˜…. It's also glow-in-the dark and boy does it GLOW after an evening of sitting under my desk lamp.
  14. I've read very lightly about Peltier MCS, but nothing stuck. Looks like I have some research to do tonight! Much appreciated!
  15. Base glass in #2 and #3 is light-green/yellow, I believe #1 is too but the opaque colors cover too much to be sure.
  16. Curious what the experts think about these 3 similar marbles. Pelts? Tri-color Rainbos? TYIA ๐Ÿ˜ Marble #1 Marble #2 Marble #3
  17. Great info @wvrons! I got a magnifying glass out and there seems to be both air bubbles and micro-flakes that shimmer; the white/black debris that shows in photo has no glint, only the super fine flakes and bubbles. I can tell the difference between the bubbles and the flakes b/c the flakes have jagged edges, and there's many more flakes than bubbles causing the shimmer. They seem to be throughout, from surface to core. Would this be what you refer to as a "hit mark"? (The portion that distorts the light reflection)
  18. Thanks for the input! Chad, your photo's swirls definitely seem more reminiscent of Alley. The marble of my post has a much more skim-milk white and doesn't seem to traverse the marble as much. This also doesn't seem as 'swirly' as smaller alleys I've sorted. Are Alley slag patterns similar to an Alley swirl pattern, sans-color? Because now I'm questioning if it's Alley at all. Re-measuring shows varying diameter of 29/32"-1", never quite down to 7/8". "furnace brick" ty
  19. I think you may be right! The marble in this post is VERY similar, just green instead of blue: So the debris is intentional, and aventurine?! So cool! I had really only considered/seen it used in a patch/swirl, never speckled like this. Crushed opal glass is veeeery trendy in modern borosilicate glass art right now, this seems kind of like a 100 year old precursor.
  20. My S/O thinks it sparkles more than I do, I blame my astigmatism Video: https://imgur.com/a/RieFgYQ
  21. Okay I should've gotten it back out and looked BEFORE posting the last comment. DOH! There does seem to maybe the finest amount of sparkle/glitter. I'll try to take a vid that captures, but it's rather faint
  22. It does not, the base glass is definitely a homogenous dark-blue (no sparkle/shimmer) with the debris mixed in. I will also mention that some of the debris is white and some is black; very small/fine specks. I'm a bit familiar with modern borosilicate glass and it does not sparkle/glitter like what you'd find with Blue Stardust: https://frantzartglass.com/trautman-rod/blue-stardust-coe-33-trautman-art-glass-rod-622031.asp (Are external links okay?)
