but like every other marble I see here I have questions. Always questions and wonder. I’ve seen a lot of wondrous things here already and barely scratched the surface of the content. Both the marbles and the people who share them and their stories about the marbles are wondrous. It seems sort of silly and escapist to me in a way because of the state of the world in general that right now the thing I want to do most is go to a marble show. I could leave my house right now and drive 7 hours and be at one tomorrow in Corning, happy as a clam. I will show up at one eventually. Maybe you will be there. I won’t recognize any of you but I expect you’ll all know me right away. A goofy unrelenting grin and not knowing what amazing thing to look at next. Now about this marble…. It wasn’t easy to get a good photo so I tried a video. I know marbles can get damaged in an infinite number of ways but is the reddish brown color associated with the damage? Or just incidental to the location of the primary damage? Would it have left the factory in this condition or been culled out? The “damage” isn’t a pontil is it? IMG_9841.MOV

I know I’m a newbie but what is that? You seem to be really happy about it whatever it is. 🙂

That’s an interesting looking marble.

i think you got a great deal! Those look really nice and the marbles look to be in really good condition.

I think sometimes it takes a while for the right person to drop by. Some marbles and requests seem to be more uncommon and interesting so they generate a lot of conversation. Plus…. people have to sleep, eat and work 🙂.

Where can I find a schedule a schedule for upcoming Marble Shows in the northeast?

6 marbles today. .68 and .69 I think are UV reactive slags but not sure who made them. . Did anyone even make UV reactive slags? Is .66 a Peltier? That’s my guess anyway. It’s the only of the six I could find a seam. .64 I have no idea. I backlit it and it has a big bubble inside. The smaller two are both .62. I guessed Alley swirls. Thanks for your help and comments!

Nice looking marbles!

The smaller marble is .62 and the larger marble is .69. Is there a designated name for the larger marble? Is it three colors? Green, orange and…. what?

That’s how I read it. I’m 100% wrong a lot!

Oh! Okay. It wasn’t registering. 🤔

I think your mom was right.

Thanks for sharing that story and the marbles. One of the things I like about the marble connection is every marble has a story and members here readily share the history.

Yeah. The place has a lot of inventory, few staff and they don’t really have the time or inclination to price any marbles. Even if they did they wouldn’t really know what they have at this point. I think they are waiting on some “marble guy” to come help them out. I try and be nice to them because I might come across a really good deal in there by mistake. The only marble they have with a specific price is the one pictured. It’s marked at 2.5” but it’s actually just over 2. $400

This bowl of marbles is at a store I visit. I took this photo when they first opened. I asked about looking at this bowl again on my last visit and they said. “There are radioactive marbles in it and we can’t sell them right now.”. I just sort of…. “okay”. They don’t know how to or what they want to price them anyway. There are a few older marbles in the bowl that depending on what they decide on the price I might consider getting. Which, if any, would you pick? I would pick the clear one with yellow swirly at just above center of the bowl.

That’s a cool marble and a cooler story!

Did those come out of your magic jar too?🙂 Holy cow they look nice.

I posted 2 Alley marbles last week under the title Compare and Contrast. I have a bigger marble that looks similar to the smaller red Alley but there are some differences and I wanted to check and see if they are both Alleys or if the larger marble is another flavor. Ist photo is the two marbles I posted before. The red one measures .635. The bigger marble I’m comparing it to measures .725. The colors are similar and backlight the same but under UV the larger marble shows some orange reflectivity not seen in the smaller marble identified here as Alley.
