Seeing this beauty gave me the encouragement I needed to make an offer on a lot that has 4 of these opaques & 6/7 transparent wirepulls (and about 60 other marbles that I could do without). Will post pics when they arrive.

Rainbo here nice group found together always like that in a group of marbles
Yeah, I agree, especially when I consider how long they must have been together for. If I did pass any on, I'd at least keep a neat little trio.

DM me. This one is a bit worn, but I don't date want to polish it in any way. If you're interested, I'm sure we can work something out.
Thanks for the offer, however I think postage may be a little steep!

As I recall, these 32-sided glass dies were some sort of a "fortune-telling" instrument.
Yep, you're right. I spotted one included in an Ebay lot of marbles last week and looked up what it was. Weird that this topic should come up so soon on here, and even weirder that only a few days before that, me and my son had been looking up what the most sides a dice can have is.
I didn't bother bidding, but I'd like to pick one up at some point.

They may be older, but they look like Rainbos to me. Fortunately, there are folks here that would know better than I so let's see what others say. Quite a few years ago, 100s of NOS boxes like shown in the book turned up empty. I have seen them filled with all kinds of different marbles - mostly Peltiers or Ravenswoods. I dare say the vast majority of these boxes out there today are back-filled.
Aha, thanks for that info. I might offer a few of these up for swaps at some point, if anyone in the UK is interested.

The left looks like a Rainbo to me and the right is a Multicolor Rainbo/Swirl - some may consider the multicolor late NLR era or early Rainbo era.
Yeah, I thought it may be a swirl, but wasn't sure because it's not that "swirly".
Thanks!

Akro corkscrew was my original thought, but the last one I put up, thinking it was a cork, I was told it wasn't, so I reconsidered this one too, as the swirl isn't that tight.
Thanks!

I agree--hard to ID at this size--pretty weird.
I would probably sort it as a Vitro.,

Your images do not suck at all--just crop them a bit.
This one is a WVS--no doubt--probably an Alley Agate.
So would the metallic stuff just be furnace crud? It's a lovely feature.

Nice gift - still one of the best books out there IMO.
As for the size, it wouldn't surprise me if Vacor made them in different size and 16 mm is a pretty common one, I think.
Good to hear, there isn't a great variety of books over here and I thought this will definitely be useful. I'd been meaning to get it for a while but kept ending up buying marbles instead, so I asked my sister to buy it for me!

My first thought is Vacor Old Fashioned.
Aha, that is an interesting suggestion, not something I've studied yet.
Out of this collection, it is mainly old stuff, however the few more modern ones do seem to be some Vacors. Thanks, I'll look that way...
