These CAC are very old machine made marbles--expect some damage here and there.

You had the images that you purchased with--a sad thing if this one was damaged during shipment.

    I feel your pain.

    Marble--On!!

To be honest - I don't actually think this was even visible in the jumble of marbles on the original picture so it's actually an absolute bonus as it's my first one!

    Thanks Art!
I'm on page 4 of the Vitro Lovers post, only 30 more pages to go :D
I'm hoping to get a better feeling for them, thanks for the response!

Yeah, I got about that far through the Pelts pages yesterday...

No kidding! It's remarkable how much more sane the search results are if you add "-ebay" to your google marble searches.

Aha, good call. Never thought of using that function, I usually just use that to exclude Amazon...

Not Pelt - I'm thinking about CAC possibilities.

Argh - Don't make my heart break 💔 cos of the damage.

I had thought it might be a bit random swirly for pelt, and also had seen some images on Google lens that might suggest CAC but it always seems to throw up something someone is trying to sell on ebay for CAC and I didn't want to fall for that again.

It came with some akros and all those transitionals that I put up the other day.

  5. I don't know much, but to me (in UK) the colours don't strike me as what I've put together as (probably) Whisplers so far. I have seen some online with a touch of orange, but mostly they are earthy tones. Happy to be corrected though...

Unfortunately this is one of the marbles that I think suffered fresh damage due to poor packing by the seller. It's maddening, as all my cheaper lots have been packaged really well, but the one that I stretched myself on a bit, that I absolutely knew had some good stuff in, was basically a box with a fragile label on, and barely anything to cushion or separate them. Anyway, lesson learned...

  7. "However, unofficial trade was actively conducted through Hong Kong and Macau, allowing Japanese glass marbles to flow into China. Hong Kong also played a big part in distributing Japanese marbles to UK before 1954. This is when UK refused to import Japanese marbles with false most-favored-nation status via Hong Kong agents."

I love how this bit is able to really make me wonder about the journey these marbles have had on their way to me (I'm in the UK).

Hello, LevvyPoole and thanks akroorka for letting me know this post!

The marbles look like pre-war machinemades except for a few transitionals. So they are like more than 80 years old. The maker is Naoyuki Seike and his brand is Duck Marble. He made his own colors in his factory in Hanaten, Osaka, and some colors are kind of unique. His transparent green often includes dark green bits. Opaque white melts in lower temperature than the base glass does, so it bleeds on the marble's surface. I'm happy to hear you like your marbles.

Hiya! Thanks so much for your reply. These are real "sleeper" marbles, not sure if anyone gets what I mean, but I bought an Ebay lot because I spotted it had a couple of akro popeyes and a few other possibly interesting pieces. I hadn't really noticed these properly in the poorly taken photos, but once I sorted through everything, I noticed how stunning these are together.

I'm quite frustrated because the seller didn't pack very well, and there was definitely a very small amount of glass dust when I unpacked (but in my excitement I forgot to take a picture as evidence). I think the akros suffered a little bit of fresh damage, but these seem to have escaped that fate incredibly well.
