  1. I recently added this very strange and colorful single pontil cloud to my collection. It's quite large, 1-5/16" and has big chunks and blobs of color (yellow, mint green, dark green, blue, salmon pink and purple!). Here are some pics. I'm looking forward to hearing your reactions.
  2. Does any of you like the antique melon ball marbles? Some have very nice colors! I especially like the really large ones (very hard to find!). Here's a photo of some of my faves, the large green one is huge, just under 2-1/4" and glows like crazy under a blacklight. All have facetted pontils, so early marbles. I'd love to see more photo's of nice melon ball marbles!
  3. Here's a YouTube video of huge 2-1/8" mist Lutz marble. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UX4aoVI-uMI
  4. This is among the rarest of german handmades I've seen so far...a large 1-3/8" beachball Indian Lutz.
  5. If this was a marble, and not a bead, it would be VERY valuable! I think it's as old as lutz marbles and by the same makers.
  6. Thanks a lot for sharing, Hansel. Yes, it has the exact same construcion. Is this bead yours? Do you know how old it is and where it came from?
  7. Hi Hansel, also the type of glazing, which is similar to Dutch pottery from that period, makes me think of that early date, but it's just my opinion.
  8. Judging by the patterns on this marble, I think it might be as early as the 18th century, around 1780. VERY nice find!
  9. Great! Now you have the find a Vaseline glass marble (contains uranium). They glow like crazy under a blacklight.
  10. I hope someone can record it and post it on YouTube. I can't get it here in Europe. Does anyone know whose collection it is?
  11. That's really a different kind of lutz, and more common than mine. Yours is a 3 band Indian lutz. Mine has a clear base and the red panels are made out op thin red lines like a Josephs coat.
  12. Recently I added a really great Lutz marble to my collection. It is different from any Lutz known. It has 3 Lutz bands edged with white lines and 3 panels of bright red. It is constructed like a josephs coat. Has any of you ever seen such a marble before? Here's a pic.
  13. Hi Ron, I've seen similar marbles being sold by a German dealer at a collectors fair here in Holland, same coloring, mica that is less shiny than in antique marbles and a dull surface. Also the pontils did not look like those on antique marbles. The same seller also had fake colored sulphides for sale.
  14. Hi Ron, I'm quite sure this is a modern marble...sorry to tell you this.
  15. Incredibly rare, possibly unique type of Lutz marble.
