A huge 1-5/8" blue based 'submarine' with an almost horizontal twist and really great colors. One of the largest submarines I've ever seen. I'm looking forward to hearing your reactions!

Here's a pic of the latest addition to my collection, a large almost 1-1/16" black based clambroth with bright red lines. I've never seen one this large, does any of you? It's far from mint, but what a beauty!

Very uncommon! I've never seen it before in a lutz marble.

And I took a pic next to my largest white opaque lutz (1-3/16" in size).

I saw this amazing marble in hand today and when I held to the light it gave a reddish/orange glow. Is that what you call opalescent glass? see pic.

I polished several real colored base sulphides I found here in Europe and the entire base consisted of colored glass. Marblealan told me an easy way to see if it's the real deal: the part of the figure further from the surface appears darker because there is more colored glass around it. In Clear sulphides with a colored coating the figure has the same clearness everywhere.

I found these 2 screenshots on my computer of a Marblealan auction from 2010! A trip down memory lane! o how do I miss his auctions! Did anyone else save screenshots from his auctions?

Hi Hansel,the Dutch word for marbles is 'knikkers'. I do know that in Holland, in the 1920's-1930's you would get free marbles inside a package of washing powder or soap, the brand name of that soap was 'Sneeuwwitje' (Snow-white). Is that the brand name on the advertising in the bag?

This marble almost has it all...huge, single pontil, 8 lobes, and 4 floating mica panels! if only it was mint...

One of the nicest lobed onionskins I've ever seen (the lobed are a lot deeper in the actual marble than you can see on these pics), it also has lots of mica and it has a left twist too!

I always have items shipped to me in Europe with 1st Class, and they are always 2-3 days faster than priority mail! and a LOT cheaper!

I've asked a professional glass restorer who works for museums to do it. She charges about $150 to fix it.

Pfff yes, it's REALLY expensive! Anyone know a cheaper material that does the same?

Thanks for the tip. Is it possible to sand paper or polish this material once is it hard?

I recently bought an amazing huge 4 lobed onionskin with mica, but it has 2 very large chips (only clear glass is missing). What kind of material would work best in filling these large chips? Does any of you have good tips? thanks in advance!!

and here's another mega fantastic antique handmade marble, a 1-1/2" single pontil confetti cloud with mica, I've never seen such fine colored dots in a marble. Also not mine! This one was sold a few years ago by Marblealan on eBay. Here are 2 pics:

About 10 years ago there was a painted lion sulphide in yellow glass (the only painted figure inside colored glass sulphide I've ever seen) at an antique fair here in Holland...the seller wanted 900 euro for it (about $1150)...at that time I was not used to paying so much money for a marble, so I did not buy it...I still regret it. It was in near mint+ condition, so a REAL bargain at that price!!!
