Greatmacscott
Been going through some of the marble related items around the house and ran across these glass slides with marble players. They are the old 4" by 4" glass slides I think they are all pre-1940 but not sure.
Steph
Wowzer! Those are fantastic! Check this page out for the "ALL THE WINNERS" slide: LUCERNA the Magic Lantern Web Resource - EATON, W.A. (1848-1915) Sounds like the slide was shown to the audience while someone read the poem. Steph
Simpson's Celebrated Slides are showing pre-WWI dates on Google. And the Quechua Boys Playing Marbles, Peru scene was dated at circa 1905 on ebay.
idigjars
Very cool. Glass negatives can really produce some quality prints. I have a few glass negatives of the town I live in. Have you ever made any contact prints or had prints made from the negatives? Thanks for sharing these with us. Paul
Greatmacscott
Thanks for the feedback and help. I spent most of today cruising the sites to learn more. Even sent a note to a "lanternist" to see what they can share.
kbobam
Huh! Tried to reply last night but I guess it didn't happen. Knowing me, I probably 'previewed' and forgot I hadn't 'posted'. Boy, these are just crazy-cool! Any idea what the deal is with the color one? I'm guessing it must be hand-colored, but don't really have a clue. Not sure if I'd want to subject that one to the heat of 'projection'. ( :
spara50
Nice slides Scott. I have 5 or 6 laying around somewhere. I will try and find them.
Steph
Bump! I need to make up some word which can be posted in threads that we want to archive in the future, so that I can search for them easily after the thread slips to the back pages. What would be a good word?
