Random "how Was Your Day?" Photo

Not bad! Thanks for asking!

Here is a new 'front cover' about to be installed on a CT scanner.

I delivered it early this morning to G.W. University in Washington, D.C.

The reason my day wasn't bad is because a cover is a lot easier to deal with

on a Monday morning than an entire machine. Also the fact that I was there

at 6 A.M, which made parking and several other things a little easier.

Normally I hate having to go to D.C. and avoid it like the plague.

Why, you ask? Because our nation's capital is a mess.

But maybe some of you already knew that..... :P

Are you delivering for the people who manufacture the equipment?

Or are there delivery people who specialize in delivering medical equipment?

It would make sense that there would be specialized delivery people -- medical equipment sure falls into the category of things which you want to have handled with care.

Yep, there's definitely a place for specialized delivery people like us.

We're at the 'local' end, which for us ranges about from Dover, Delaware to Richmond, Virginia.

The factory (in Packerland!) hires standard long-haul trucking firms to get the equipment to the local areas.

So far, so good, since they have their own people there to make sure the trucks are loaded properly.

But sometimes they try to save a few bucks by sending these trucks directly to the delivery site, where

inexperienced temporary help is hired to move the machinery into hospital buildings.

This can lead to disastrous results. The 'insurance' of sending the trucks to our warehouse and letting us

take it from there is usually worth it. And sometimes the machines have to go through a roof or window,

and even the silly bean-counters realize that we're a pretty good deal. ( :
