Berryb
The first is a large slag-like mib. It looks like the photo of a CAC "bloodie" in my Block's book but no brown. Could it be an "American Agate"? The second Mib has brown and may be a bloodie but not a very good one. I dunno are they even CACs? Any thoughts? Thanks Bruce
Chad G.
In "my" opinion Bruce neither mib you have is CAC, maybe Akro ?? Here is a double seam red CAC slag, these pix showing both sides of one mib.
Chad G.
I "think" this is CAC also, so called road and tunnel design slag, if anyone knows better please chime in, I'm not that great at I.D. ing the road and tunnel type slags. But the single and double seam like the prior are unmistakably CAC. I'll hang it up @ hand gathers I'm no expert slag person. Hope this helps a little Bruce ?? Oh the American agate mib, I remember it being a more opaque corkscrew looking mib. not positive but I think I have a few mixed in with my red and white Japanese transitional's. I'll take a look !! Chad G.
A few more CAC's, a snotty !! The colors on a CAC will generally pop out more than other mibs of the same age when their put together in a group. Obviously not this one a brownish green snotty. A CAC swirl A CAC striped opaque. Da Roberto
These cacs are beautiful Chad, Bruce's has no tunnel, obvious cutting lines to be able to give cac ..... but
Chad G.
I just got these on accident, they came in lots or jars. I don't collect CAC's but you seem to acquire a little of everything over time. So I kept some of them just for G.Q.
Da Roberto
Yes, I like to have a bit of everything, no particular preferences, (apart from wirepulls) if I like a marble I take it or at least I try to take it ....
Berryb
OK here's a question: what is the difference between a CAC slag and a CAC striped transparent. The pics I have in my Block's book look the same. Top rt. is striped opaque, the rest are clear base so slags or tranparents?
Da Roberto
Yes, the Cac slag is collected by hand and rolled onto the rollers. A striped transparent is made entirely by machine, unlike the hand-picked slag
Da Roberto
The Cac drosses were , half hand half machine, transparent striped, fully machine made

Chad G.
A CAC slag has the white color running in and out and around the marble, a true striped transparent will have the color on or very near the surface only "rarely" will the color barely penetrate the outside of the marble on a striped transparent. Here is an example of a true striped transparent, contrary to what they try to push elsewhere as a striped transparent most are slags, just a ploy to get some more money out of you. Again a pic of a true striped transparent. Note the white is only on the outside. The red 2 seamed CAC slag I have pictured above has white running all around the inside the same with the road and tunnel. Striped trans. are worth considerably more money and more rare than a CAC slag. How many CAC's like this do you see elsewhere. I just looked and there were about 25 or so listed as striped transparent and only one was true the rest were double seamed CAC slags or striped opaque's, some weren't even CAC. That's not many out of 31,000 listings. There is no color inside this marble, maybe a very miniscule amount close to the surface in one spot, thus the name striped "transparent" I hope this helps you Bruce I was duped more than once hopefully this will prevent the same from happening to you or anyone else. wvrons
The original first two marbles look like Jabos. I don't know the size but I would guess about 7/8 to one inch Jabos. Both are swirls, not slags or striped transparent.
Chad G.
Thanks for the info Ron, to tell the truth I really didn't recognize either that's why Akro was just a maybe. I have a long way to go on Jabo's, just got my first few dozen a couple weeks ago. I should've stayed on top of it years ago now a lot of catching up. AHH well at least I'm gonna have fun doin it. Think Chad, were it not for the too large size of the striped Germans, (some .....) they could be confused with cac
Chad G.
Yes you're correct. Alot of the CAC marbles are smaller, 9/26ths to 5/8ths, there are larger examples but are not as common. The Germans are as you say mostly larger, " correct " Both still beautiful marbles. You see I fixed the picture now you can see it ???

Could cac slag be more common? type 13/

This one is 13/16ths exactly, the biggest CAC I have, very wet mint. Not necessarily larger but yes slags are more common. The other CAC slags I have are all around 5/8ths, give or take. No matter the company slags are made of a clear base w/ white swirls. MF Christensen is the only one I know of that is opaque or semi opaque in nature the hand gather type. Hard for me to identify hand gathers they all look very similar to me no matter the manufacture.
