William
We went road tripping up north a little way and decided to hit a 3 level antique mall in Winona, Mn. Right underneath the Sugar Loaf. Interesting because this mall is in the old rustic building that used too be the headquarters for Red Wing Pottery....lots of cool stuff, left $160.00 lighter 😝....now time for some Alfred Hitchcock and PaPa Murphy's
Steph
What a great day! There's an antique mall on my way to work. One of these days I need to stop in. But that's soooooo dangerous!
Chad G.
Luck having it while I was out paying bills today out of boredom I went to the nearby Kalama Antique Mall, lots of vendors but mined out by droves of currently unemployed C19 patrons. I found one 4" contemp. I liked and know the owner so a $15.00 discount on a $40.00 item bringing my grand total to $25.00 for the day. Oh well !! at least I didn't buy any items that would just have ended up being "dust bunnies" Unfortunately no pizza next door "Subway" the local "Greasy Spoon" & the "Minit Mart" I decided to pass !! Steph
I did it! I stopped in at the antique mall. Well, hubby and I didn't just stop in. We spent quite a long time going up and down all the aisles. He was helping me find marbles. I found so many actually that I chose to leave some behind. They weren't fantastic. The best thing I left behind was vintage bag of Marble King cat's eyes. If it was the only thing I found I would have gotten it and counted myself lucky, but it was priced a bit high, and I already found this bunch for $25. And that was enough. One jar of "stuff" which was priced at $5 and had a few marbles, including the shooter bumblebee, and a ceramic figurine from Japan, and other fun non-marble things. Then there was a $20 jar which was half full of big red clearies ... and I LOVE clearies. And it had other decent marbles, including a bunch of cross-through cat's eyes. And the jar itself was a blue mason jar with a zinc lid. So it was a good day. I'm gonna need to research that marble with the green center ribbon and the red and blue patches on the ends. I get a Vitro feel from it, though the colors seem more Marble King-ish.
William
Same here! I passed up a vintage Marble King bag full of cats eyes. This was in Lacrosse Saturday. The vendor wanted too much for it I thought but I did come away with the group I posted earlier today and a small jar of what I think are modern marbles, possibly Jabo or Vacor (post them at a later date) Yeah, those "jars or bags of fun " are cool. I find one in Harmony occasionally. Remember that Citrus marble from a couple weeks ago? It was in one. Along with other marbles, plastic vintage army men, a set of vintage Jack's with the original rubber ball, and a mini plastic pinball game. Fun! William
Funday Friday it was! Went here....had to take 2 pics too get the building because I ran out of parking lot too back up on! 3 stories of fun treasure hunting 🥳 The last pic is of the rock they call "Sugar Loaf", which overlooks Winona, Minnesota. Lots of Indian heritage around those parts. It's said that people still find tons of artifacts throughout the hills in and around Winona. Interesting history about this town if anyone decides to read up on it. Also known for its Redwing pottery, Redwing boots and being the homebase for Wincraft (the company responsible for making tons of collectible sports memorabilia for major events like the Super bowl, World series, etc.) Check it out! Just for clarification purposes, the Redwing products I mentioned were originally based in Redwing, Minnesota; but Winona was a known sales outlet for them. The building above actually housed at one time the popular Redwing pottery.
William
Funday Friday came and went...Stop #1, Harmony, Mn. and the Antique Mall. I struck out there but my gal scored 4 nice vintage fishing lures. Stop #2, 10 miles north of Decorah, IA. and What's New Antiques. I scored some Akro pieces (see Akro product thread in Marble and Glass chat) and my gal nailed a nice vintage muskie lure, wood with glass eyes. Stop #3, Waukon IA. and a place called Rain or Shine Treasure, where I scored a nice piece of slag (also shown in the above mentioned thread). I just missed the marbles by a few days as they sold online too someone in DesMoine IA. All in all a fun day! Finished it off with some authentic Mexican food in Waukon before trekking home. 😊

Funday Friday! Going here today after my gal Patricia's PT appointment. It's been almost a month and most vendors here stock regularly as Winona is a known tourist attraction around here. ETA 6 hours and counting 😊

William
Putting it here because it was supposed to be yesterday's trip but mother nature had other ideas...anyway, made the 100 mile trip to Diamond Jo's Casino for a day of fun! Won enough over the 4 hours there too keep playing, having our best luck at the Green Machine (hit $100 4 times). Ended up coming home with about 80 bucks once it was all said and done. Had a blast!
William
The old Funday Friday thread...figured I would throw a couple pics of 2 goofballs who stopped in Decorah, Iowa for Culver's, Walmart, Norby's Farm and Fleet, and some fireworks being sold by King Kong 👍😎
