Berryb
There have been a few posts recently about hand cut stone (agate) marbles. I got this one this summer at a garage sale. It is hand cut Malachite. The facets show, they have been polished down, but they are still visible. It is an inch and 23/32nds. akroorka
Nice colors Bruce, Tell me what you think of this "woody" patch. It has rings like a tree almost. The woodie part is so perfect side to side that I thought that it might be an applied afterthought. I had to really look at it to determine that it was a stone of some type. It has a strange fluorescence under overcast sunlight—no uv reaction. It looks like an agate in hand 7/8”. Marble—On!!
Berryb
Nice marble. It does look like wood grain. The photo on the right looks a bit orange peel-y to be stone. That makes it interesting as well as beautiful. Thanks Bruce
akroorka
Thanks Bruce, I have purchased many chunks of petrified wood and other cool rocks from garage sales etc over the years. The travelers used to pick them up in the old days like we buy hamburgers today. I am glad that a stop was put to it all. What a great looking marble one of those would make. We used to have a "rock shop" in town, I wish that it was still here. That dude knew his rocks and would have been able to ID it on sight. Marble--On!!
