Question about foreign marbles (India)

Recommended Posts

I’m not sure If this is the proper place to post this question, if not please direct me to where I should post. Very general question about where I could find information about marbles from India, or if anybody in this forum knows anything about marbles from India?

asking because I have a friend who is in India and was asking me about my marble collecting and wanted to see what I knew about Indian marbles and If there’s any notable  collectible Marbles vintage or otherwise.

I tried doing a little bit of research and couldn’t find anything except for old Indian games so I thought I’d ask here see if anyone had any additional information. thank you so much!

It's a great question. I really haven't heard much, if any, discussion about marbles produced in India. But I sure would like to learn more so I hope you get some responses. It would be great if your friend could send you pics of any interesting marbles they see so you can show them here. Maybe we can all learn something!

The look of this handmade marble is inspired by Mehndi, a form of temporary decoration on the skin that is often used in India and the surrounding countries.

Here are a few links.
Imperial had some packaging describing “made in India”. Hard to tell which ones though there are a few countries listed.
Imperial filed for bankruptcy a few years back, now they are Ja-ru. They may have some info for you.
The last two links are from “India Mart”. One link lists marbles as “made in India”. The other one has a video showing a stockpile—no wonder some are busted they way that person tosses them around.
They still make “Cod Bottles” in India, I would just imagine that they make their own marbles for the bottles.
Marble—On!!

This is a new term to me.

I would love to see some, as would many here on this board.

Marble On my marble collecting Friend!!

Any book on handmade glass marbles would have illustrations of painted German sulphides.  Here's one that was found in India.  Sorry the picture's not better.image.png.fb42b4cf3c92116f95f931ec912d507a.png
