PittsburghMarbles
Just got back from the Cairo dig this weekend. Just started cleaning stuff. Didn’t find tons of marbles like the Heaton dig but still got around 400-500 swirls out of the ground along with buckets full of cullet. The first photo is stuff I’ve cleaned, two of the cups are mint marbles and such. 2nd is the only mint Hurricane I dug; did also find some nice cullet of it too. The white and red marble in the 4th and 5th photo is actually a Davis marble, there were quite a few Davis marbles there actually. A lot of yellow lightnings which were thought to be Cairo but with the help of Ron Shepherd we found out they’re actually Davis. I’ll be posting bunches of better photos once I get everything cleaned and some stuff polished. The last photo is the Davis ones I’ve cleaned so far and found as it was hard to see what you were pulling out of the ground since everything was covered in goopy mud. I still have loads of stuff I haven’t gotten around to looking at yet. 1
wvrons
Yes, the last three are Davis to me. The yellow one will probably glow orange, not super bright but orange. About 90% of all those found at the Davis site were fractured.
PittsburghMarbles
^ Yeah that’s the only one that wasn’t fractured, I dug up about 12 other yellow lightnings and they were all fractured.
cheese
It was good meeting you and digging with you. Thanks for hanging back when I was stuck in the mud, I was afraid I was about to get stuck at Cairo with no cell signal for the night lol. Got to get the toyota to the dealer and see what went wrong, the cruise never worked after that and the engine light stayed on the whole way back to Ron's.
PittsburghMarbles
It was good meeting you too, hope to dig with you somewhere soon again. Have you looked through any of the stuff you dug yet?
cheese
No, I showed Ron the furnace burners I found and that's it. We rode through the mountains on his side-by-side today and talked marbles, took my muddy boots out of the car and put them in the sun to dry along with the boards I got from the factory. It was an easy restful day, I slept until after noon lol. 13 hours to drive up here, then 3 days digging in the muck and I was tired. Tomorrow I think we'll be cutting trees, so who knows when I'll wash them but I like to be busy so it's all good.
