Marbles_on_Mind
Benningtons. But is that what all of them all? Are the little ones Benningtons?
Ric
Lots of clay marbles sometimes called "commies" and some Benningtons (the glazed ones with the "eyes"). The yellow on on top upper left is interesting, and the blue lined one below it looks like it might be a variegated clay - Jasper type marble. akroorka
A small jar full of these non descript clays will go for $80 on Ebay as a decorative item. Non collectors eat them up for a display. The Benningtons are just a cool marble. They will go from under 1/2" to over an inch in diameter. They are fun to hold and handle and come in a variety of colors--sometimes three or more colors. The eyes are from the kiln “cooking” process where they were sitting against each other during the firing, the glaze that was applied just stuck to the one it was sitting next to. Who does not love a” bennie”? Marble—On!!
Marbles_on_Mind
This brings up the topic, to sell or not to sell? Not just these on this post but anything and everything. Sell the small to get the big ones. Seems like those are the most collectible and having 1 inch diameter marbles on display would look amazing.
