VaMarbles
Recently purchased some china marbles and was hoping for a bit of insight here. Seems like the more interesting design (house, person) the more valuable? Any thoughts here? Anything top shelf? Left to R 15/16 23/32 21/32 (3 and 4) thanks for looking 1
akroorka
The black and white one I have not seen before--it reminds me of a "carpet ball". Oops, I take that back, there is one in "Everett Grist's Big Book of Marbles" He called them "Painted Chinas". The left and the right hand ones are called "Lined Chinas" or---"Painted Chinas" as is the flowery looking one. These were all hand painted--probably from Germany. Yes, the more fancy the more valuable—rarity is always a thing though—the black and white seems rare to me. You need some more opinions for sure. @bumblebee may have some insight here. Marble--On!! I'llhavethat1
No expert here, but I agree the more labor intensive the pattern the more desirable. So if the spacing/geometry is good, or more colors (I see three colored stripes on both left marbles), those are good traits. Your marbles are good examples of the type When you get into the figural design paintings, thats a different beast. Big $$ and questions of authenticity.
