He worked as a phone tech and these white lines that followed the other colored paths of a Rainbo reminded him of the wires that he worked with--they were called "Tracers". Some of the wires had solid colored stripes some had a different colored lines that were side by side with the original color. Generally a "Peltier Tracer" has white lines that are married to another color. Some may be weak but some may have the white follow all of the colors around the marble entirely.
