It has to be part of a Machine--Kiln that was broken up and disgarded. Many parts of a "Machine" had a limited lifespan but eventually the entire kiln had to be remade--just because of use. These pieces of the Kiln always carried some glass on them. The folks back then just dumped what they considered as junk into the rivers--or landfills. Go back and find some more--dig deep. No one will arrest you for cleaning up our natural resources--just carry a bike part with you--or a piston, or an old tire😁. (and a back packpack for marbles with a sandwich and a bottle of water inculded) I just love this stuff and I would do the same. In My state, no-one owns the rivers--they are all fair play unless you are fishing or hunting. A misdomeanor is worth it imho😁.
