Asked about this marble again.

Asked if this is a modern marble or Jabo. This was the reply with two new lighted pictures. Comments?

"No we don't believe so as he had it labeled as an Akro Oxblood & the other information in the title we got from our personal observations & information we found on marble collection identification websites. The color of the red matches the dark red typical of other Akro Oxblood that we have come across. Akro started producing marbles from 1915-1951 after which they closed, so any Akro marbles will be considered vintage machine made marbles.
We've attached a couple extra photos showing the marble in brighter light. Hope this helps & thanks for messaging"

The investors couldn't necessarily be sure how any given run would turn out, but they picked their own colors and hoped for the best.  One run I have many marbles from turned out very dark because the plan was to only put in one portion of blue, but there was confusion and the blue was put in repeatedly.   So some people got luckier than others.

But Dave McCullough and the investors learned by 2007 what kind of glass to add to the mix to get oxblood.  That's when the experiments were started which led to the contract runs which would continue for many years after that, basically up to the time of Dave's death one year ago.

Not all were made at Jabo.  That's where it started but there were other investor runs.  After Dave left Jabo, he continued making marbles.  Dave's Appalachian Swirls or DAS is one name you'll find when you research these.
