  2. Just imagine a stream of molten glass spitting out a tube and depending on the size of the marble being made this shear comes down and cuts off a glob of glass just the right amount to make the marbles intended, the shear mark will be "the cut line or seam" once the glob is cut it falls onto an long auger, as the marbles rolls down the auger it is cooling off and shaping it round,, the difference in companies cut lines is they run different machines,, the same principle but they own their own, some may be even timed different,,, now when you make thousands and thousands of marbs with the same machine you will have a certain pattern,, learning each companies pattern helps to identify them,,,,,bj
  3. well theres I think 2 companies that made bricks,, MFC which is the lighter one and Akro which looks like burnt blood,, or visa versa,, when you actually hold one in hand theres no mistaken that you will say "thats oxblood" cause they look just like a big old glob of dried blood, i have a few that do not have the "9" design in them, but that "9" you see is a bonus in my book,, very cool marble,,lolol,,that yellow one isnt oxblood that was just in the picture i saved, no one can say for sure where that swirled oxblood comes from, yet,,,,,bj
  4. I have virtually every picture of every ebay auction, marble post, ect ect,, on my hard drive for the past 3 years,, the problem is when i labeled them it was usually with a date so finding a certain mib is possible but very hard,, somehow i label this one abrick, when i went to look at it i found that other chipped up oxblood swirl i was talking about in my thread on the rare marble,, well this is just as good as place to post these because theres a couple of sweet oxblood or bricks in these photos,, haaa,,,bj
  5. White vs. Clear then, I understand now,, thanks, I never thought of it that way,,, is there a white slag?wouldnt make sense would it,ty,bj

  7. Bill , I happened to be in the room when an elderly couple came in to sell their marbles. they had been to just about every other room and everyone was telling them to go see Les, I was snapping pictures of his collection and could not help over hearing him do the deal, the couple had an outstanding collection and it was more than he could handle at once, he did buy a couple marbles from them and boy, I thought he paid dearly for them" I realized that he didnt want to disapoint this couple so he picked up an inch marble and offered a tidy sum which instantly put a smile on the couples faces, I sat back in awe just to realize he couldnt handle a collection of that magnitute but wanted to put some kind of glimmer into this elderly couples souls, I respected him for not cheated them out of, in my eyes was there"retirement plan" for his personal gain, he just wasnt like that, the guys was all heart,, im done,,, just hate having to loose him like that,,,,bj
  8. I met Les in Edmunsburg 2 or 3 years ago and I have to say they dont get any better than Les when it comes to a friendly guy who's collection, I have yet to see it could be beat,,, He was an all around awesome guy whos heart was in the right place, I hate when people pass and this has struck a sour note in my heart bad, this is the only picture I have of him from that show, he was busy doing a deal and didnt hestitate to stop and chat, Im so sad right now, I thought I would share my only picture to the many who didnt know him, in this picture is a man who took an American pastime to a level in which is irreplaceble by any standards, with his knowledge, his decency for the common man or woman, his warm heart and with his humor, his love for his family as well as his hobby, God be with his family through all of this, and my flag will indeed be flying half staff,,, bj
