  1. Nevermind, I'll answer, it's David from FL, bad nail good seller!
  2. HOLY CRAP! Never seen that color combo before, awesome marble man!
  3. Very unusual. never seen that before! Really cool, looks like they started to paint, then changed their mind! Here's a few of mine. Scott
  4. Bought one of these years ago from Bert (marblebert) as a Czech guinea. It is machine made. Scott
  5. Yes I still own the marble! Have had it for sale at a couple of shows though. ($700. no takers) Brian E., Bill T., (maybe both of them) and Galen W. all held it and commented. Hey David, nice of you to resurrect this thread! I think I still owe you $20. on a hand made you sent me years ago, I think it's still on the couch! It was not one of the signature cane mibs I look for. PM me your address and will send $20. or some nice cats! Scott
  6. Hi JVV, the marble is a surface banded Josephs Coat. These marbles are very uncommon, have only seen them offered for sale in one of those R.R. catalogs, in the #30's somewhere Sami. I bought one of the 13/16" size, think it was over the $600. range. Sweet Surface Banded Multi-layered Joseph marble JVV, it's the only one I've seen, surface banded and multi-layered! Here's a 9/16" sub Indian from one of B. Alan's R.R.'s Scott
  7. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZbelltown62QQhtZ-1 Take a good look at these C.A.? marbles? Scott
  8. Here is a dead ringer for an Akro Agate Ringer. These are quite uncommon, only seen a couple in 11 years on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...DME:B:TB18:US:7
  9. Or this beautiful monster 31/32"! That are both tri-color millers, that's all that matters to me, not the name! Bill Cokenhourow is the one that came up with the name Superboy. Keep it real! Scott
  10. I buy a marble cause I love it! It has nothing to do with what someone calls it! The marble will sell itself no matter what name you put on it! Got to correct you a little Roger (marble pirate) in the pics you post of Alan's mib, it's two mibs, I know because I was the high bidder on one on the left 31/32" the first time Alan listed it for sale, did not meet reserve. Second time he listed it I was the underbidder did not meet reserve. The pic on the right I did win from Alan and did meet the reserve, it's a 7/8"+ beauty! I will say the one I won is closer to being a superman, but I really do not care about the names. I still call these "Millers swirls" it's easier than you know those Pelts with the exact colors as the NLR's, but with a hell of a lot of busy swirls, and either one short, (looks more like a fold or a start) or no real cut lines, that probably precede NLR's and are nothing to do with Miller, just a different feed/cut than NLR's. You know I love those busy Millers swirls, like this gorgeous example!
  11. Thanks Paula I appreciate that! This thread was not just meant for Hansel, but know he has a huge collection, and respect his opinion, wanted to know his thoughts on the 4 flower quadrant. Really looks like not that many people into Chinas, I'm glad of that! Thanks again Hansel. Scott
  12. Sweet marble Zen! How big? How much? I have one like it without the blue and I have one like it without the yellow. Scott
  13. Quote from Rick: Scott........you don't think the LASHES were cause by a hasty sharpening of the cutters that left BURRS on the cutters ???? The burrs wear off after a certain amount of time elapsed...and the LASHES diminish ??? That was kinda of "IN YOUR FACE".....Scott...!!! SORRY......!!! Do you have another explanation or some insight that would explain why the LASHES are only found on Akros ????? I'm goin' there.....what other Machine-Made Marbles have "The Lashes" ? Rick hey man never apologize for being "IN YOUR FACE" with me cause I can handle it, in fact I LIKE IT THAT WAY!!! Exactly what you said .....if it was dull shears then why do you not see those lashes on other companies marbles???? Also Mr. Hill stole the plans for the corkscrew machine in 1907 When Akro started in Akron and packaged MFC's marbles & sold as Akro's. They did not make marbles until moving to Clarksburg in 1915. I know they were not rocket scientists at Akro, but find it hard to believe it took 14 years in Clarksburg before making any corkscrews? My guess is that they were making corkscrews within 7 years of being in Clarksburg, Though it may have taken until 1929 to perfect the machine to max production. The company called them spirals in the salesman sample box, when did that Salesman Sample box come out, what year? Scott
  14. Rick what is that a double or triple ingot? Let me ask y'all do you think the workers at Peltier said, "OK guys we're makin Supermans today, so keep that yellow clean with good seperation on the red." The next day say, "OK we're doin Superboys today so run them hot so we get good bleeds on the red & yellow." No the fact is Peltier made the two marbles as the same marble! Don't really understand the whole superman/superboy thing, but do know it's a huge mint boulder tri-color Millers swirl! By the way Bill Cokenhourow is the one that came up with the name Superboy. This will be at home with these! Keep it real! Scott
  15. Hey Tim, nice pics! Looks like sunshine coming through the window/natural light, so bet the colors are true too! Scott
  16. Thank you! I only asked because have not seen any 4 flower quadrant China marbles in any books.
  17. A few mint ones. Four early period and a middle period. Scott
  18. Couple of my best. What do you think about the quadrant flower China?
  19. Hi Hansel, welcome, seeing newbie under your name makes me laugh! Does anyone have any real info on just when Akro started making corkscrews? My guess is that they did make corkscrews a long time before 1928. The number of Akro's I've bought from the diggers, so few are hand gathered, don't buy the 1928 date on corks. I do not believe the eye lash = dull cutters either. Scott
  20. Here's an old pic of some big favs Scott Top left triple ribbon 1 15/16" and the Pinwheel China is 1 3/16"
  21. Groovy man right on! Still lookin for those close pics guess I'll shoot more!
