  1. You make an excellent point that I hadn't thought about - why would they repeat a "mistake" using different colors? Seems pretty obvious now . . . I wonder about myself sometimes. It'd be great to see some of those old Black Widows . . .
  2. Some Aquamarines for comparison . . .
  3. I'm thinking Champion, Heaton and Vitro (not an Aquamarine from what I see).

    moonie?

    Maybe a Master Cloudy.
  5. I need to read, lol - maybe JABO.
  6. Looks like a Heaton to me - maybe a Rotten Robin?
  7. Looks like a JABO "Lawnchair" marble to me.

    Ravenswood

This may be true for opaque marbles but Ravenswood made lots of 5/8" marbles too - especially the transparent ones.

    2 more JABO

So it seems they are from the Pennsboro Buddies Run (Dave's Appalachian Swirls, 10/22/2020).
  10. I am not sure I have seen peewees in any Akro salesman's cases (or any peewee corkscrews). Are you thinking of the peewee patch that was included in some Popeye Boxes?
  11. Thanks Jeff. They are really different than MK's standard production. What makes you think that they weren't discarded because of that? It seems to me that the P&R "ideal" is what MK was known for and if you gave a kid a choice between these and their standard P&Rs . . . I can imagine what they would choose - maybe just a matter of QC?
  12. It's a modern marble - not Akro, that's for sure.
  13. The grid is a good idea and the photos are good too but the enlarged photos are still pretty small and when I see this many marbles in a single post I usually don't respond because it's too much like work keeping track of which marble is which - might just be me, sorry.

    Green swirls

    Alley is my guess.
  15. The back right one is an Alley Ghost and the front two look like Alleys too. The back left looks more like JABO to me.
  16. The center one is Alley - not sure about the others - maybe JABO?
  17. To me, the front two look mostly Vitro. The back right looks a bit more like a barren swirl than a patch but it's tough to tell from these views. The patch on the back left one is distorted by a fold and I am not sure what I think about that one - different views might help.

    Ravenswood

It's tough to say with certainty but they look like Ravenswoods to me too.
  19. It sure looks egg-like. It would be interesting to hear what a paleontologist thinks about it.
  20. I like it too - especially when I see it on the steel blue or gray base glass.
  21. I have seen that sort of mottling on a variety of Alley marbles. I don't think I would call it a "trait" necessarily because some marbles of a particular type will have it and others will not. And it seems more likely the result of glass chemistry than something the rolls would produce.
  22. I agree it's pretty cool looking - reminds me a bit of the "abalone" on some dug mibs - maybe an odd dug Pelt?
  23. It looks JABO to me too - sort of a Jorkscrew.
  24. I like the way the colors shifted to leave the white base showing - almost like an extra white ribbon - nice size too.
