  1. I am not sure about the marble - it may be Asian. But the glass looks like it has spent time submerged in an aquarium or something. It looks like "beach glass" but given that you found similar ones together, that seems less likely.
  2. I'd call it a brown earthenware (clay) marble, AKA a "Commie" because they were so common. Clay marbles are cool but the vast majority of them have little if any value to collectors. Many different companies made huge numbers of them and I don't know that anyone has ever figured out how to sort them. Although, I myself have had quite a bit of fun trying. You can also find them dyed a variety of single colors, or even mottled with several colors. A nice collection of them displays well in a wooden bowl or something. I actually like them quite a bit, but then I learned to embrace my weirdness long ago. 🙂
  3. I think that would be a divided core swirl.
  4. As I recall, these 32-sided glass dies were some sort of a "fortune-telling" instrument.
  5. @Alan Can you please check my thinking here . . . What we are talking about are marbles with a divided ribbon core. I have seen such where typical thin ribbons are about equally wide and they come together edge-to-edge in a way that gives the illusion of a solid core (but it's really hollow). I have also seen some where two of the thin opposing ribbons are wide and another set of thin opposing ribbons are narrow, and they come together in a way that gives the illusion of a single wide fat ribbon (which is also hollow). I think the latter is what they are talking about here. Does that sound right to you?
  6. Just a thought . . . if you barely submerge the marble in water and then take a pic you'll be able to see it much better.
  7. The left looks like a Rainbo to me and the right is a Multicolor Rainbo/Swirl - some may consider the multicolor late NLR era or early Rainbo era.
  8. They may be older, but they look like Rainbos to me. Fortunately, there are folks here that would know better than I so let's see what others say. Quite a few years ago, 100s of NOS boxes like shown in the book turned up empty. I have seen them filled with all kinds of different marbles - mostly Peltiers or Ravenswoods. I dare say the vast majority of these boxes out there today are back-filled.
  9. The Cub Scout marble was named because it has the primary colors of the cub scout uniform. And it is possible that you are not the only one to see an arrow in one of the ribbons. It's always fun to find likenesses in marbles. I enjoy it too but it is a very common thing. I have found everything from animals, to landscapes, to symbols, buildings and people, you name it. My avatar is the best likeness of a smiley face I have found. If I ever find better I'll probably update it. If you are interested to see what likenesses others have found, you could always start a topic and see if you get any responses.
  10. @Chad G. I think the back four marbles look quite different than the front three too. And while we may never figure these Euro wire pulls out, I think it's a stretch to assume that just because the marbles came from the Netherlands that they were made there. I got a few poly-mesh bags from Mojo with wirepulls that look quite a bit like those back four and while they may be Veiligglas, I am not convinced that they are. I wonder how confident @Mojo is about them being Veiligglas.
  11. Its a fun thought and all but the Arrow of Light Award wasn't introduced until about 40 years after this marble was made.
  12. More slag than swirl, I think. Odds are with Akro, IMO.

    5/8 Akro ?

A view of the other seam is maybe not as helpful as I hoped. I'm still leaning Akro.
  14. Yes, a Peltier Rainbo.
  15. The more I look at it, the more I think it's an MK P&R with very little space between the P & Rs.
  16. @Alan Here is a definition I found at Old Rare Marbles: "Double Ribbon Core Swirls are constructed with two inner ribbons opposed to each other, and are more common than a single ribbon core swirl. Sometimes Double ribbon core swirls will be “capped” with small ribbons to close up the gap created by the two ribbons to give the illusion of a fat single ribbon, but is actually a double ribbon core swirl. Capped Double Ribbon Core Swirls are uncommon." I've seen the marbles but never heard the term.
  17. Here is the 3/4" marble at 4 o'clock in the group.
  18. More of the 13/16" marble at 2 o'clock in the group.
  19. Here are some Veiligglas I got from Winnie (RIP) back in 2013.
  20. Another one of brother Billy's favorites - he loved AV. Billy's marble and pics.
  21. There was a time when people thought they might be Alley . . .

    9/16 WVS

    I could see it.

    5/8 Akro ?

My first thought was Akro, and it doesn't impress me as Vitro. Maybe a look at the other seam will shed more light on it.
  24. Ric

    2nd 5/8 WVS

Looks JABO-ish to me but maybe Alley - another odd one.
