  2. I agree, salamanders come in every color you can imagine, awsome marble Chuck.Would love to see more pics,I will guess the size is 9/16"
  3. Great marble John, that is a very rare beauty you have there, they are hard to photograph I agree. Thanks for posting it,any other red based pelts out there?Ruby slippers?
  4. Would you please discribe this marble your imagining?
  5. What information do you have to offer?About the rare salamander marble?
  6. I thought moderators were nuetral, you really feel you need to protect and help(give preference to) Chuck don't you Steph. That is a picture of a lizard not a salamander.
  7. I love em,what size?do any of them flouresce? Here is the backlit picture I promised, you can see it's more than opalescent,it's red opalescent. The area photographed is in the grey area between the red ribbons.Ann thank you for clarifying my usage of the plum word.Being a builder I always think plumb and I think "Mock Plum" looks better for a proper name.
  8. Fire those are the colors I would expect to see on a peltier marble named a salamander, great marble here's my marble,Red transparent base with red, orange, yellow and green. Both ends are shown
  9. Take a look at my avatar,it's the same marble,it's red,at the very least plumb not merely opalescent. But I will take some backlite pictures tonite.Fire 81 your correct, the base color would be better discribed as a transluscent red opalecsent base, thank you.If not backlit the entire marble appears opaque.
  10. I'm just tring to do things proper,I believe a transparent red based Peltier rainbow marble is exceedingly rare and deserves a proper name,.discussion?I, think these are rare anyone else got one?
  11. I have found a red based rainbow that has a fairly common surface combination,Grey and Red.I call it a Mock plumb for these reasons. The surface colors are Grey And red.The grey is the shade of the bark on a Mock Plumb tree. The red ribbons are the same shade as the Mock Plumb leaves in the fall, deep earthy red.And when held up to the sun the opalescent red base is as red as a sun ripened plumb.Indoors the marble appears totally opaque.Just under 11/16".Been told this marble has no name so I propose the name"mock plumb"It's a pelt.Would any one like to discuss? I think it's important to have discussion
  12. Steph,my marble is a Peltier, and as far as color goes why would a salamander have blue and white as part of it's color scheme?Have you ever seen a salamander with blue and white on it?Why would those colors be required? The name salamander should be reserved for a marble that has the same color scheme as a salamander, such as mine green,red,orange.yellow.If we are searching for the mythical salamander then I am throwing my marble in the ring also. It's Pelt:)Yes it looks different, but as Steve said only a few have heard of it so it would be unfamiliar.Peltier made other transparent red base marbles.
  13. salamander?Same marble is my avitar.
  14. Love the Teal slag,great size!The "Twister" I would guess Akro.Good stuff
  15. Wow ,that box is extra fancy! Beautiful find
  16. Steve,no five color pelt swirls here, sorry.Would love to see some though.
  17. Great thread everyone,Steve I think it would need green also to make it a salamander? So we need a green ,orange, blue and white swirl.Might be some other colors in there too?pink, peach? Pics?
