  1. Diaperfold? slag? stripped transparent? not flourescent
  2. I was a little sceptical about the 30%-$40% diaperfold ratio but Ive found six so far and just starting hmmm. This purple slag here ,is that one seam or two seams close together? What is really cool is when I find one like this yellow/black two seam opaque, does that look electric?
  3. Thanks Ann,I must have been quoting Bob Block 3rd edition about miller swirls"these marbles have only one seam".Well we know nothing can be that simple and I'm not the keeper of the rules, but that's were my info came from. Thanks Ric and everyone for all the great pics,I have some time now to go through some of my stuff and I'm able to Id those diaper folds better now that I have seen more examples! Hoping to see more.bo
  4. Here is a favorite of mine ,it's just over one inch.I believe it to be a CAC slag two seam marble. But I had a thought,if this was a Peltier marble it would still be a two seam marble, right? Sooo... maybe some of these definitions could apply to other than CAC marbles. There are marbles out there that have no seams(that I can find)so seamless could apply to marbles other than CAC marbles. Now the sticky one the diaperfold, perhaps a better name would be single seam. OK,I have Peltier marbles that have a single seam, but they don't look like the CAC single seam marble(constructionwise). What marble has a single seam like the CAC diaperfold(single seam)? So maybe the diaperfold definition is a CAC thing and other single seam marbles are just single seam? Make any sense? But,in my opinion we can't give more creedence to a definition than we can the marble. In other words what is more important, the definition of a marble? or the story of the marble? Have we gone to far with definitions ,naming, etc. It's enough for me to know who made it,maybe a little more info would be nice. But too much info takes us into an area that can be a minefeild of dissagreement. One last thought. What kind of collector are you? I am like the bottle digger that digs up a bottle that has'nt stood on a shelf in a hundred years.Hello bottle! and now I have the satisfaction of cleaning it up and putting it back in it's rightful place with it's kin on my shelf. It's enough to know who made it,a little more info would be nice.I feel the same about my marbles,I am satisfied to put these marbles back with there kin,a little more info is nice.I know not everyone feels that way but these are my opinions. That's enough for now.bo
  5. Yes,I agree with you, this is the marble I immediatly thought of when you started this post. Thanks Catfish and Ann for your information. I'm not trying to hold anyone to any definition I only became intriqued after looking at these single seam mibs. It's especially interesting to try imagining how they made them without a tail or a second seam.I'm not a CAC collector,I can afford Peltiers, the CAC's I have were tag alongs from other groups I have gotten. So this is new to me,thanks for your patience.bo
  6. Well it's been awhile now and these will have to do for discussion sake. Two questions I'd like to ask, first does anyone have an idea of the percentage of diaperfold(single seam) to double seam opauqes made? Second question is does anyone have any idea how they were made? These opauqes are very plain and both are purple, is this signifigent? If anyone has single seam CAC to compare to these I would like to see them.I am going through slags now looking for diaperfolds and found one so far.The construction of all three marbles are the same ,single seam and the glass flows directly around the marble with some wavering. This is a great subject and I think much can be learned.bo
  7. A good investment might be one of those polishing machines that I have been seeing on the net latley. They cost about three-hundred dollars and I was amazed at how nice some of those jabos look after they have been polished.
  8. I got these in Canton Texas,it's a huge flea market.A guy said he thought there were some marbles in a dresser drawer, somewhere in one of the warehouses. I looked for quite awhile and sure enough.....
  9. Is # 4 a CAC opaque diaperfold? Does it have one seam? Could I see the other side please? Or do you have any CAC opaque diaperfolds you could show us? I would be interested in seeing them,if you have time? bo
  10. Ric,I believe the majority of the Ades type Akro marbles were corks.Of the marbles pictured only three or four are patch type.Pictured are lemonade, limeade, cherryade and a blueberryade.Nice patch marble,bo
  11. Kevin, take that marble outside and take a pic in full sun and you'll get the aventurine.
  12. Okie,I believe the majoriy of the popeye marbles are in the collections of people who are not motivated to sell them.So the few that do make it to sale are common or damaged. The rare mint examples bring the best money. They're also great for filling up those authentic popeye boxes with bags that drift in from time to time.Yes I wouldn't mind have a jar full.
  13. Well I was very excited earlier this weeek when I first saw this thread about diaperfolds.I had to wait till fri. to get pics, the first mib I took pics of,which I thought was a diaperfold wasn't.As I was about to post pics I literally tripped over the definition of diaperfold, meaning a marble with only one seam.Yikes, back to the pile and after all that,I found only three that met that critical criteria and they were all industrial-ugly compared to those beauties you posted.I have come to the conclusion that diaperfolds are rare!If a guy could just make some of those he'd be in bussiness!LOL.But by now I have invested time and energy and will not be posting pictures of a diaperfold but will post a picture of this (what looks like a) diaper-FULL.Oh,and by the way friend, that last pic you put up wuz a little fuzzy.bo
  14. Yes,those colors are freakishly freaky. All your marbles are very beautiful! You must be a long time collector.bo
  15. Whoa oooo ooooo ooooo oooooo ooooo oooooh......Superfreak,Superfreak......Super freaky
  16. Steve ,we both got identical letters saying we were not to speak of "it" again. Is this your way of speaking about "it" ,without speaking about "it"?
  17. Jack take that one on the left outside in full sun and look at it,see if it sparkles.bo
  18. Hey,was the squabble zone a choice when I voted?I vote for the squabble zone.As far as marbles over mayhem I will just say I post alot of marble pics, and enjoy seeing marbles and marble related storys over the mayhem on the board latley.I think the word "attack" is over generalized to mean anything that is in dissagreement to a particular few people who post here.If somebody want's to follow someone around pestering and correcting and finnally calling them names such as stupid, idiot, fool, then the person being singled out should have every right to defend themselves as they see fit. This is America!
  19. Cool mib Jack.I collect cats-eyes myself and haven't found a pee-wee crossthru yet,you might want to wait awhile to let it accrue in value. It's definatly hard to find, for me anyway.Heres a pic of my 1" crossthru and 26 three way cross thrus that I found just recently in the wild.In my opinion cats are alot of fun and easy to find.Good hunting,bo
  20. Allright ,I got off my big fat you know what and went thru some of my stuff looking for champs.Anything look champ?I'm thinking maybe a couple are right.bo
  21. Kevin,I know very little about Champion marbles and look forward to learning more about them in this thread.Great pics, everyone.I think I may have some of those purple and caramel ones, didn't know they were Champs.Better go find them now.bo
  22. marboman

    Flames?

Joe I don't know for sure who made it but everyone who see's it likes it,so far.It could be CAC but there is a little bit of a smearing on the green base glass, don't know how I would describe it, could be Alley.Size is 11/16".bo
  23. Thanks Kevin,I'll get some pics ,now I know what they look like.Good information,Thanks.bo
